I'm not brilliant when it comes down to all the components where I haven't a clue but stuff like changing the laser etc. is easy enough. I know about some parts though I probably should learn more.

I got one of those network adapters for the PS2 a few months back. It's pretty cool how you can use OPL and set up an SMB to play games from your computers HDD, or else just put a HDD in the back of the PS2 and install your games on it. It makes the games load faster and prevents you from damaging your games, while preventing the laser in the PS2 from wearing down also.

My PS2 is working fine. It is just that it has troubleshooting troubles. Even with new cables it doesn't display the game on screen well. All I get is flickering and static.

That's a little unusual. I never had any sort of video problem with a PS2, it's usually a problem with the lens I'd encounter.

It sucks though. I would play my PS2 right now if it were not for the display going bad.

I'm assuming you're using the standard composite cables (yellow, white and red)?

Yeah, I have fresh ones that were bought and ones that I was using all the time.

I get screen static and flickering no matter what I do.

I was going to say that if you were using component (red, green and blue), that the PS2 has a component video out setting for RGB or Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr.

See what happens in future, when i play ps1 games on ps2 console. i set Fast Disc Speed and smooth Texture Mapping.
It's pretty much when standard disc speed, no matter very slow or slow loading data files onto the CD.

I never tried the smooth mapping, I should try it next time I'm playing a PS1 game.
