There Should Be More Rayman Games on Steam

Post by em50 »

I'm surprised that the only Rayman games on Steam are Rayman Raving Rabbids, Rayman Origins, and Rayman Legends. Even though Ubisoft released the original Beyond Good and Evil PC version on Steam, most of the Rayman PC games are not on the store. I think it would be cool if they released Rayman 3 HD, since that was a console only exclusive.

Why have them on Steam (with DRM) when they are already on GOG (DRM-free)?

Isn't the BG&E version on Steam rather glitchy?

Either ways, yeah, I don't really see much point. GoG provides relatively compatible versions of the game without any DRM tied to it. Unless Ubi intended to take advantage of Steam's extra features, such as achievements, but if that were the case, I'd rather they went all out and did a proper retouch as opposed to their typical half-arsing. And even so, if they did do such a thing, it's more likely uPlay would end up being added to the mix, as it was with Legends.

Didn't Steam do a thing where you can connect your GoG account to Steam anyways? Not to mention you can also load in non-Steam games like I did with my copy of Rabbids Go Home on PC on my old laptop.

There's GOG Connect, where you can connect your Steam account to GOG, and then occasionally games can be transferred to GOG as part of promotions. So I was able to transfer my copy of The Ball a while back, but you couldn't do it now if you only just bought the Steam game. And I wasn't able to transfer the Solus Project to GOG (I'm thinking it won't be available for a while yet).

If I can remember correctly, there is Rayman 2 in Stream. It was a gift for preordering Rayman Origins, so those people can play it on Steam.

But still. GOG versions works really well, low price and DRM free :P

Aw poop. I should have pre-ordered it. I got it the day after it was released.

It's nothing major really, if memory serves it's just run of the mill Rayman 2. There's no extra features other than just having it as a Steam purchase. You could have practically the same result by getting GoG version and adding it to your Steam library.

I never got the Steam version myself, though I've heard it's got some compatibility issues that the GOG version fixed. So in basically every way the GOG version is superior, and even though Ubisoft would eventually release it on Steam (as they recently did on Uplay) it would most likely be identical to the GOG version anyway, just with the Steam DRM there (+ the GOG version comes with some bonuses, like the soundtrack and wallpapers, which most likely won't be included in a Steam release).
What I'm hoping for is that they'll eventually release Rayman M/Arena for GOG as well some day.

I still do not understand why they are not taking the chance to put the games in Steam. As for M/Arena, I voted in GOG to suggest them to bring this game into their site. Would gladly (re)buy it.

Rayman Kart is a obscure old mobile game, don’t except Ubisoft to release the game on Steam.

Don't bother about him Birds, Alezzie-nator is affected by a rare brain disease. This disease develops serious side effects, including unexpected homosexual behaviours and increased incidences of certain types of fetishism such as eating your own poop and bogies. :tssk:

I think he posted in the wrong thread, he likely meant to post here: viewtopic.php?t=26441
