If anyone ever asks what lead me to becoming a proud Rayman fangirl for over half of my life, just point them to this game :mryellow:

My tale of how I discovered Origins in the first place is actually really sweet, though I’d have to ask the person I was with at the time to fill me in on a lot of the details since I seem to have developed chronic memory decay in recent years— probably down to too much embarrassed facepalming

Oh Rayman Origins, when that game first came I loved it. It around the time the game was about to release that I joined these forums on a not so good laptop. These forums had crawled a long way since then. So had I. I am a completly different representation then I was then.

I still find it funny that it was all Rayman 1 for me as a kid, then me playing it a few times as an adult but not bothering to pass Band Land until finally only a year ago playing this game and liking it so much that I moved on to Legends and then tried Rayman 3 and then 2. I still love all of the games and I think Rayman 2 is amazing really.

I just really like Origins though, especially the art style and how happy the game is 😊

I find it ironic that you aren’t the biggest fan of UbiArt games yet you have a Fire Teensie rank

The UbiArt games are so fun for me that I played them to death as people say and then still kept playing. I love them both but Origins is just something speacial imo.

I still have to get all the Lum medals though since I only got all the speed trophies and not the medals.

I feel 100% the same way. I love Legends (and it’s still one of my favourite games of all time) but Origins will always top it for me due to all the memories and early childhood nostalgia attached to it. Not to mention the cheery upbeat music, and the fact that all the level environments/layouts were unique and didn’t just feel like extensions to previous ones (looking at you Olympus Maximus :mefiant: )
I still have to get all the Lum medals though since I only got all the speed trophies and not the medals.
I swear some of those medals are impossible to obtain— off the top of my head one level I was faced with (I think it was in Ticklish Temples?) whilst trying to 100% the Xbox 360 version, and High Voltage on the 3DS version (which is a painful enough version to play as is because of the trashy framerate and audio quality... do remind me why I own it again? :fou: )

I only played it a year ago but I absolutely love the game :hap:

Also yeah I own the 3DS version too with it's 30fps cap (and less) but I also have the VITA version, which is so much better :P

Still not as fluid as the console/PC versions but there's only some little drops. At least it's 60fps unlike 3DS :mefiant:

The Ubiart games are fun games, when I play them I have a great time with them. Never had I stated that I am against the Ubi Art games, sorry for any confusion. I just put Rayman (or any franchise really, like Spyro.) to a certion standard based on what it is and I look at the Ubi Art games as a spin off like the Rabids and RaymanM/Arena and Rush. While the Ubi Art games do come fairly close to the original 3 Rayman games, they feels like a Sonic 4 episode 1, (which Origins was going to be originally.)or really good indie games. That and they're not Rayman 4, so unless confirmed they aren't main series games. I actually play my digital verson of Legends on my PS3 fairly often which I bought straight from Ubisoft through the psn store for full price and just the other day I got all of the back to Origin's tensies freed.

I spam the shoot button about 7-8 times per second on those levels and have no problem getting enough Lums

Some of the levels barely have enough though and can be a little awkward.

I wouldn't call it Rayman 4 also, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they aren't main series games, because they actually are

It's ok to say Rabbids aren't main series.

Edit: Is it because UbiArt is 2D? In that case that would mean the original Rayman isn't main series either :P

Re: Rayman Origins

It has nothing to do with the game being 2d, it has more to do with that it was originally going to be an episodes game but right at the end they changed the story. That and it didn't have the Rayman 4 title. It ended up not being an episodes game, though they kept the same idea of art style and gameplay. At some point they completly changed the story of Origins, like with the RRR towards the end of development. not sure if the story Origins had was rushed toward the end but I would prefere what they Originally had planed, though i'd still consider it a spin off if it did have that story because it's would had been an episodes game and it didn't share the Rayman 4 title. Now if Origins and Legends were like Sonic, for example, where you start from Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, and 3 and headed to Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, that would be a different story and then would be apart of the main series, if the titles for the two games were named as Rayman Origins and then Legends would be converted to Rayman Origins 2 then they would be of the main series, no matter how different they are from the past games. it's alot like Rayman Hoodlum's Revenge on the gba.(but it's its own thing, only difference is, is that there is more exposure to the Ubiart games then Hoodlum's Revenge gba.) While Hoodlum's revenge does share the Rayman 3 name it is its own game and not apart of the main series just like Rayman Origins and Legends.

There's no story to the UbiArt games basically and I've heard that so many times on here, but I don't care about that. The story based stuff basically went out the window after Rayman 2. Maybe when we get Rayman 4 (eventually) they might actually go by a story again for a change.

I find that people fixate on little things a lot that happened in the UbiArt games and while some make no sense along with a few even being pretty stupid, it doesn't affect the gameplay in any way and people should just ignore those unimportant things. The story wasn't great in Rayman 3 either and the game is absolutely amazing.

Was story ever really a strong point of Rayman games? I mean—
me wrote:rayman 1: mr dark does a thing now go get the electoons to save the world

ramen 2: pirates from space do a thing now go murder the guardians to get the masks to woke polokus to save the world

ram 3: fuzzy blackberries do a thing now go pester the teensie doctors to save globox and also the world

oregano: the livid dead do a thing now go get the electoons again to save the world also plot twist the magician is evil now

oregano delet scene: kid monse is sad because asshole schoolkids are assholes so this leads him to the logical conclusion that he should become a satanist

leggings: monse does a thing now go save the teensies because apparently they have some kind of control over magical paintings and stop monse’s kinky antics to save the world

adventures: what story lol

Rayman 2 had a decent plot really, but then you always get people complaining about the UbiArt story. The story was never really consistent throughout the series anyway and this is what they're complaining about, how Origins didn't stick to the story from Rayman 1. They might want to check the calendar and realise what date it is

But then again, as you said, the story was never really consistent throughout any of the main series games.

Personally, I don't care if it doesn't stick to the R1 story because:

1. Why would it if none of the main series games had the same story
And
2. I care about the gameplay more

Yeah exactly! Legends has even less of a story that Origins (if it even has one at all) but it doesn't even matter about the story in either game. Both of them are just really fun games to play because the gameplay is solid and they're both amazing platformers :)

I only know that Rayman Legends is awesome and I love it, but from what I've played in the Back to Origins mode, it seems to be a pretty convincing and solid game and I love how you can interact with everything in Desert of Dijiridoos for example the piano when you walk on it in the loading screen makes sounds and the birds that you need to use as platforms and overall it's really fun, though I am eager to play the full game because I heard the Back to Origins mode in Rayman Legends didn't include the whole game.

what nonsense
we all know that saving random redhead clones from the magician’s extremely questionable treatment of women is an incredibly deep tale about female empowerment

i mean why else would there be more barbara skins than any other character type in the game

Well the bubble dreamer talking about sleep and saying suddenly blah blah and quickly wake up our heroes isn't exactly much of a tale

Not that I care because it's about the gameplay anyway.

All I said, involving the story, was that the story was changed from beta to final, and I did not said that it made the game a worse experience. When I said that if the two games were just named Rayman Origins, and Rayman Origins 2 and that it would had been a different story (I didn't mean that as,an actual better story for the games) I meant that then they would be in a different position to be apart of the main games because the games would had had some connection with the overall series. But since the games don't share the names Rayman 4, or the games aren't Rayman origins, and Rayman Origins 2 then the games are just spin off titles. They are good games as I keep saying.
