I'm going with Eraser Plains because I like Picture City![]()
Boy was I bad at that months ago
I love Picture City too, but my favourite world is without a doubt (at this point at least) Band Land.
Picture City and Cave of Skops would be my #2 and #3, respectively.
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Well, my favorite levels are Pink Plant Woods, Anguish Lagoon and The Swamps of Forgetfulness, mainly because of the jungle theme of them and second, because I just love their music and that overall jungly feel to them, those deep, lush colors, the rich environment and everything basically. For example, in Anguish Lagoon, how after you defeat Bzzit, he becomes your friend (somehow) and how you can ride him is really cool. And as for Swamps of Forgetfulness, the tension from the rising in the beginning and the water rising with that music is just so good and the part where you ride down the plum is really fun. I've always found it fun to go at high speeds in racing games for example, so I found it really fun to do so in Swamps of Forgetfulness too.

Yeah, it's funny how watching Rayman attaining high speeds on the plum, in 2D space, can make you feel that thrill (well at least I do
).
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
I actually love that when he puts his hands out in a surfing motion while going faster. That looks absolutely amazing

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
It really does! The attention to detail in those animations is really something.
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Yeah, I think it looks cool too.
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
The best part was on The Swamps Of Forgetfulness part 3 where he does it while he's on the plum going down the hill
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Yeah that's exactly what we were talking about

I agree with you all, that surfing animation is one of my favorite animations in that game along with his cute grimace. Though my favorite instance of the surf is in Candy Chateau when he slides down on a frying pan.

Eh, I'm not so enthusiastic about the frying pan instance. I find that section really annoying tbh. Plus it's not in the Jaguar version!

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Yeah that's understandable, you can't jump off it when you're sliding so it results in instant death if you make a mistake.
There are 3 instances I think where he does the animation, I think it was the plum, the frying pan, and those UFOs in Eat at Joe's. They're all really neat instances and I like all of them, though the reason i liked the frying pan slightly more was because I thought it was cool and I thought it was doable as a kid unlike the other 2.

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
You got to Candy Château as a kid?
I'm pretty sure he does it in Band Land too, on fast-moving sprinklers. Or maybe I'm thinking of Rayman Junior. It's funny though, to think of it as something that only occurs a limited number of times. I always just thought of it as part of the physics engine, that I could trigger whenever I want by messing in Rayman Designer. I'm pretty sure it happens more often in Junior and Designer.

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Yeah but it was Rayman Advance and it took me a few years, I think I finished it either between R2 and R3 or after R3. I didn't play the PC/PS1 version til I got to high school. I might be wrong though, my memory's gotten a little hazy.
But anyway what I'm trying to say is it inspired me to try it myself so one time for fun I grabbed a large frying pan and tried sliding around on it. What ended up happening was I slipped off it and fell on the floor. And when my dad found out he gave me a whooping.

Yeah I remember playing that as a kid too but I likely took the password from a cheat book at that stagePluMGMK wrote: Sun Oct 28, 2018 3:16 pm Eh, I'm not so enthusiastic about the frying pan instance. I find that section really annoying tbh. Plus it's not in the Jaguar version!
To this day the frying pan part is still a little annoying, but the reversed controls I have to admit are a little funny. I remember playing it a few months ago and I was holding left while Rayman was sprinting right, then I jumped an he was going way to fast. I tried to press right just so he'd move left/slow down, but it happened to turn back to normal at that instance so he went really fast, flew straight over the platform and fell

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
The annoying thing about the reversed controls, on the technical side, is that the sparkles indicating the presence of the charm only seem to appear in the PS1 version. But I'm pretty sure it turns out that they were supposed to be in the PC version too but a glitch prevents them from appearing unless the spell is cast twice in a row (obviously only possible in Designer).
But yeah, on the gameplay side, the place where it goes back to normal is completely insane!

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Yeah I found it really funny when it reversed on me and got me killed. I was like "you smart assholes"
Bur yeah wow the Jaguar version of Candy Château is so much different.

Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
Today is one of the days where I find myself longing to do what you did, and actually get the Jaguar version of the game, along with a real console to play it on.
Re: Your Favourite R1 Level?
That's literally that's the only reason I even got a Jaguar (to get Rayman on it and play it)
I actually must replay the Jaguar version seeing as how when I completed it last time i had to use like 4 continues. The mechanics feel so much different that I failed a lot (maybe I'll use my CRT this time seeing as I fixed the RGB cable I have)
I hope you can at least find a good deal on a console if you do decide to get one. I bought mine "untested" from England but I assumed they thought it was broken, because if you turn on the Jaguar with no cart inserted, the power LED doesn't come on
