Oh well that's literally not that bad. You just have to move side to side and avoid the spikes. It even has checkpoints to help you out.

I'm actually talking about the PS1 version since that's the only version I own and plus that's the version I'm playing.

Also, thanks guys! :)

No probs, good luck with the rest of the level! :)

I'm wondering what you meant by flying rocket bongos now. Maracas rockets don't show up in Phase 2. Hmmm.....

Ask him instead of using tiny font that he can't read :P

If the maracas are flying then it's part 3, but if you just mean the part with the moths and sprinklers then that's part 2.

What I meant is that I realized I'm not stuck on Part 2 anymore because I was actually stuck on the part where you have to make the jumps off the moving clouds and make sure not to accidentally jump on the wrong notes. Also, I've just discovered something interesting about Part 2. Near the end of Part 2, there are a string of Tings you can collect when you jump on the cloud that takes you there (from where you would otherwise finish Part 2) and if you collect them consecutively, they play the French folk song Au Clair de la Lune. If you skip to 4:46 in this video, you'll see what I mean. Also, if you're on mobile and it can't play it in your browser, you can also tap on the title of the video and skip to 4:46 there (in the app).

Ah yes, that's a well-known little feature! I guess it's a reward for hopping on that cloud instead of leaving the level, despite the difficulty level!

That just takes good timing and practice. You'll have to go back to the level again at some point when you go back for the remaining cages. I really liked that little tune when it played the first time and realised what song it was.

Best of luck with it Aaron, it's all just in the timing. As I said the game works in patterns like most retro games and you just have to have good timing/quick reactions.

Most people that played Rayman have said the same thing where the first 3 levels were easy and then they were just like whoa why is this game suddenly so hard :P

Alright, I've tried my best with it today, I even got as far as Part 4, but then I died and lost all my continues so I'm gonna try playing through it tomorrow (or just start over since I got the hang of it now)

That's the spirit though, you'll get further and further each time and become better at the game. If you need to practice a certain part you can save the game then use the 99 lives codes but just load it again if you want to do it legit. The 99 lives code would just help you practice is all and you'll get used to it then and will eventually get through the whole game without a continue (and no cheats) if you're like me :)

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me about that! I'll make sure to use it next time I do that level. I really like Part 4's thunder effects, the raining sounds and the dark blue sky. It looks really cool in my opinion :)

True, there are so many good things that make Rayman 1 such an amazing game despite the difficulty.

Phase 4 is definitely my favorite part in Bongo Hills. Aside from what you’ve mentioned, I really love the Bongo beats in that phase. I’m a sucker for the drum beats in the game tbh! 😋

Definitely one of my favorite drum beats there, second only to this one! 😃

Of course it wasn’t as fun to be dodging all the lightning bolts. 🤣

Yeah, I feel like as a 1995 PS1 game, it looks amazing because it knows what the PS1 is capable of doing and tries to get everything out of what it can do.

I still can't get over how Sony were trying to say 2D is yesterdays news, we want 3D games. Rayman still showed what the PS1 could do by maintaining a perfect framerate and having all of those cool effects/transitions.

Edit: I decided to play Rayman 1 on my PS2 and it's been a while. Anyway I got killed 3 times on the Moskito with the purple spiky fruit Aaron was talking about before passing it, because twice I forgot to punch the Antitoon and the third time I mistimed it. I guess I'm a little rusty again :P

Um, about that grid tool... Where is that Steo? (relating to the question about GameMaster Studio and sprites)

You create a sprite then press File then "Add from strip" or "Create from strip" and then you have to set up the boxes size and how many images there are etc.
