It's funny how they didn't put Spryo or Crash on there considering the fact Rayman never made it into the Greatest Hits section meanwhile Crash and Spryo did. That's weird. :tssk:

It did, and I have a copy.

But yeah, we think the reason Crash and Spyro didn't make it is because of the licensing with Activision.

It's cool. The only theory I can see that's logical, is that Activision own the rights to both Crash and Spyro now and Sony couldn't be bothered to license them.

If there was something like a Dreamcast Mini/Classic or a N64 Mini with Rayman 2 on it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but PS1 Rayman 2 is probably the worst version of that game (proto-Rayman 2 bonus level aside), so I'm not surprised it didn't make it onto the PS1 Classic.

Graphically speaking, Rayman 2 PS1 lacks some level design, even full levels, it can be considered the worse version just by glancing at it, but I like the way they used colors on the PS1 version and of course the obscure voices lacking on other versions. It is certainly the worst version considering that the levels aren't really present as much. But it does have it's pros. Actually I would call Rayman DS the worse version, atleast on the PS1 it is playable. I rememeber most of the time I was playing Rayman DS I was strangling with the controls and it felt like it wasn't responding to button inputs at times, it's been some time since i played it so I don't recall specifically what the issue was with the controls except for the laggy feel.

You're right, I forgot about Rayman DS. Whoops!
Still though, Rayman 2 PSX isn't the ideal version I'd play, so I understand why they omitted it from the PS1 Classic.

I have played the PS1 version myself and yeah it was still fun to play, but the graphics are inferior to all the others. Even the N64 has better graphics, especially if you have the expansion pack with the extra 4MB of RAM.

It's still Rayman 2 is the right way to put it, but I definitely prefer the Dreamcast version by far. I've probably said that on RPC 100 times by now though, everyone's probably sick of me saying it. :P

I agree, the DC version is pretty much the best one. (Oh Sega how much I love(d) you. NOW GIVE ME SONIC MANIA 2, A GOOD 3D SONIC GAME AND JET SET RADIO 3)
I do wish that there was an end-all, be-all Rayman 2 Definitive Edition or something, with the choice of DC Rayman 2, Rayman Revolution, or 2D Rayman 2 (and togglable changes). Sort of a pipe dream, but I would like that!

My favorite version to play is the N64 version, even though there are things about it I disliked, if I were to pick the best version to play through it would be the N64 version because it loads fast and controls well. If only the sound was as good as this version. The music, while lower quality then other versions, can be good at times, such as when battling robot pirates in the sanctuary of water and ice, or when riding the shell. A lot of it is pretty plain, and generic, but when playing this version, it's a very solid version compared to the PlayStation versions and loads really fast due to the use of cartridges. I like the PlayStation versions' more, but if you just want to play the game the N64 version is probably the one to play.

Hopefully, if we ever get an N64 classic we get Rayman 2 on it. That needs to have Rayman 2 on it.

The N64 still has a low framerate too is the problem, the Dreamcast is the only console version that actually targets 60fps like the PC version, while actually doing amazingly well at that. That's one of the other main reasons that it's so good aside from the better graphics.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the games though I guess, but personally I just feel like the Dreamcast has a lot more going for it.

I recently heard the the PlayStation Classic will be using the pal PS1 games for all regions including the United States. Will I notice any major downgrade compared to the Ntsc games? Additionally, the PlayStation classic is using the same emulator I been using on Linux, sounds very lazy of Sony considering that they made PlayStation.

Yeah they're using PCSX ReARMed which is open source. If this is true then I find this outrageous! PAL games are usually slower than NTSC due to the 10fps difference, so if they're actually doing that, then it's going to have slower games.

PAL is 576p instead of 480p, but they hardly ever usilise the higher resolution and usually just fill it with huge black borders. Rayman does use the higher res along with most other PS1 games and it makes you see slightly more on screen, but it's not worth the slower gameplay imo.

I don't know why they couldn't had went with ntsc. I guess they just wanted the resolution to be as high quality as possible.

From what I've researched, it seems 9 out of the 20 games are running in PAL mode, but otherwise yeah, this is the same for all regions. I find this a very strange choice to mix NTSC and PAL games together. The 9 games are the following:

Battle Arena Toshinden
Cool Boarders 2
Destruction Derby
Grand Theft Auto
Jumping Flash!
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
Resident Evil Director’s Cut
Tekken 3s
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six

Seems Rayman will be in NTSC format, but from what I've read, even some of the NTSC games may have issues.

I'm thinking of getting Abe's Oddysee for my PS2, I've heard good things about it. As I said before, I would not actually want to get the thing since I already have a PS2 and the PAL version I think is more slower so yeah... I might as well get the NTSC version of Rayman and Abe's Oddysee, but then again I already have it on my PS2... so no thank you.

Of course they will haoe problems, it's using emulation. I could have looked up the PAL games, but frankly I have no interest in the console due to the fact that it uses emulation and PAL games now to make it even worse! :pascontent:

I am sure the games will runs fine, this is a console coming from Sony I think they know what they are doing.
Lets wait until Youtubers' start playing it and see how it plays out.
Also since it is using emulation and potentially more powerful hardware than the actual PS1, the games might actually have less lag than the original console potentially.

The PS2 uses emulation and I recall my PS2 slim lagging out in the 1st level of Bong Hills on the Pal version back in 2010 when I was playing it then. That's just what I remember from experience.

I am sure espxe would be a better emulator of choice, I don't thing Epsxe would mind if Sony asked them.
