I love it, it's exactly what I expected!

I love it, but I think the price is a bit excessive for what it is.

It's fine, although I'm not entirely convinced by the soundtrack.

It's okay, although I wouldn't have included the accessibility options (infinite lives, etc.).

I expected more from Ubisoft. They should have made some improvements, just like the fans did with Rayman Redemption.

It was good that it was something different, but with the amount of glitches present and it running like that, I can't even consider choosing it over Dreamcast.

If it had been on Xbox and GameCube, it definitely would have ran at a much higher framerate, but whether or not the glitches would be addressed is another story.

I think Revolution is one of those games where some like it more, some prefer the original. I prefer the original more personally, and I'm not fussed about the whole Raymanian thing.

I guess that's aside the point though, I feel like the more powerful hardware would have done a much better job on this game. Even look at Rayman 3 on PS2, it runs at 60fps and pretty well for the hardware, but due to how the PS2 handles Renderware, Revolution barely even reaches 30fps for the most part. The Xbox and GameCube handle Renderware so much better than the PS2.

I mean, I think Revolution on PS2 was just fine and I loved it because of all the stuff that it has added to Rayman 2: the upgrades, Ly's minigames, all the hub worlds, the gorgeous look of them and what it's added to the original levels of those in Rayman 2: The Great Escape. I think it's a fantastic game with great visuals, an amazing soundtrack, excellent gameplay and all the extra content in it that I mentioned before. Yeah, it would've looked great on Xbox and probably played better, but I have no problem with it releasing on the PS2 and I'm happy with it (although if I owned an Xbox or a GameCube, I would've definitely played it on those consoles) :)

It has good visuals and stuff as you said, it's just that the game engine (Renderware) doesn't run very well on PS2. It's not a bad game, but I just don't like the way it runs compared to the likes of PC and Dreamcast. I know that it would've ran better on Xbox and GameCube as they definitely handle Renderware better.

I'm just fussy when it comes to a game having a consistent framerate. :P

Oh, I get ya. :)

Well, I'm not an expert in tech (in fact, not even close), but I know that the PS2 is a weaker console than Xbox for example so I wouldn't know, but because the Xbox is a more powerful console, I guess it does.

I know how you feel Steo, the remake was good but the original is just so much better to me. Raymanian to me also fits better than those English voices did. It's really too bad that this is the only version of Revolution we have, maybe someday Ubisoft could give us a better port of this game, because it's a good concept (yes I even liked the hubs but everybody's different I guess)

Wait! Burnout 3: Takedown uses RenderWare too and that runs perfectly! Yeah, the people might not've optimised the engine well enough and another reason it might not've ran so smoothly is because a small team worked on it and because of the optimising thing. I truly understand what you're feeling now.

Renderware did run bad on PS2 generally, but some games may have been optimised to run better. I'm not sure if burnout 3 is locked to 30fps on PS2 as I haven't checked it yet. Either way, I'd rather a constant consistent 30fps than it fluctuating constantly, which I'd assume Burnout 3 would achieve on PS2.

I'm in two minds about this. I'm not a huge fan of the concept of Revolution. Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I liked the simplicity of the Hall of Doors. And what were they thinking with those level name swaps, and replacing music with ambients on revisits??
Still, since the initial port to PS2 caused all these changes to happen, maybe a port to Xbox (or Gamecube) would have given them further time to reflect. Maybe they'd have reconsidered some of the questionable decisions, done an even better job on the hub world, and ironed out some of the glitches. I think I'll give a cautious "yes" here, because there was a lot of potential!

This. This is the thing that bothered me most about Revolution. They took all the cool sounding music of Eric Chevaliers and replaced it with simple ambiance. I still don’t understand why they found it necessary to cut that out in later visits? Would it have crashed the game or something? Was there not enough space? I really have no idea here! :fou2:

I'm pretty sure it was an aesthetic decision they made, rather than for any technical reason. A bad decision, in your opinion and mine, but a valid one.
Still though, maybe you're right, and it was done for technical reasons. I hadn't actually thought of that…

I think they just done it on purpose thinking it would be a good idea when it really wasn't. There's so many other things that bother me about Revolution that I wouldn't even class this one as a priority, even though it is bad in my opinion.

No, I think it was just for aesthetic too, but yeah, Eric Chevalier's compositions for the game are amazing so it still wouldn't make sense for them to do that...

EDIT: Also, silent ninja-post!! :pascontent:

It's ok really, but it's so frustrating when you want to state something and someone posts faster than you...

Yeah, it could just be an aesthetic thing. I mean there were other things about the game (the Lava Sanctuary name change, oogh) that bothered me also but replacing the music was the thing that really peeved me. It's just too bad that UbiSoft didn't try to exploit the unique aspects of this game and made the game for other systems, there's really a lot of potential here as Plum said!

That stuff just happens, you can never really know when someone else is posting at the exact same time as you, but yeah I agree that can be a bit annoying at times. And yes I should know since I've done it to someone and it's been done to me as well.

You have no right to call it annoying, you used to do it constantly and even on purpose at times.

Aside from that though, there's no reason Aaron needs to get annoyed over it. He can still get his point across regardless of the ninja post, and it's not like I done it on purpose. :)

Hahahaha!

Yes I did that often back then but it’s over now and I’m not proud I did that. ;)

But anyway back on the point, yes maybe to others it wouldn't be as much of a bother, but maybe in a way I'm just really picky about video game music like that.

I was actually joking for the first time in a while but I guess nothing has changed. :P

I don't care if someone ninja posts me, it's just someone posting while you're typing a message, like it's no big deal. They just want to post on RPC and happen to be doing so at the same time as you.

I thought winkgrin would give away that I was joking to be honest.

No, I mean when it doesn't even bring up the message "A reply has been made to this topic. You may wish to review your post in light of this." and notify you in the page you would normally be redirected to when you go into "Full Editor & Preview". That's especially annoying!

I find it curious that it still happens to you. Even when I make the mistake of hitting submit more than once (either quick reply or post preview) it warns me every single time now with that message before the post goes through.
