Obsessions topic
For me, it's my hair. I'm obsessed over keeping it at the length I want it to be. I grab the scissors and trim the parts I feel need trimming, multiple times a week.

Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
For me, I guess it's about the technical details of things and wanting my consoles/electronics working perfectly.

Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
The most obvious obsessions I have that I can name off the top of my head are eating and playing video games, definitely. Some may also know this but i also have a bad tendency to pick up some of the strangest obsessions.

I'll try to fix my hair too but it's not so much about being obsessive, more like trying not to look too bad.Ray502 wrote: Sun Dec 02, 2018 9:27 pm For me, it's my hair. Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
I'm OCD about things being perfectly straight and also I have a habit of cleaning the saliva on my lips with my finger (I live with autism by the way).
Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
Autism is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact a lot of people with it are much more intelligent than some individuals that don't have it.
My obsessions with things like tech specs and things like paying attention to whether my consoles/electronics sound different than they should could also be affected by ADHD, but those obsessions can actually really help me at times when it comes to diagnosing/repairing electronics. At the same time I do wish I wouldn't fixate on certain things so extensively and fidget so much, but in reality I can't help it, it's the way I am.
I'm not sure if I go too far into detail with tech and bore people at times, because while some might find it interesting, some might have no interest in it whatsoever. I guess it's true that you can't please everyone.
EDIT: Oh, and music pitch is another one I really fixate on. If I hear a song with the pitch altered, it just sounds like nails scratching against a chalkboard to me.

The weirdest thing I'm OCD about is browsing sprite sheets and saving them. For every device I own, at least 5 tabs are dedicated to sprite sheets.
Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
I didn't read this properly at first glance, but I'm actually the same. When it comes to hanging TV's, the bubble on the spirit level has to be dead centre.

Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
I'm not sure it's appropriate to use "OCD" in the title of this thread, since I'm not sure anyone posting here actually has a diagnosis of that disorder
That said, my "thing" is not touching doorknobs / window handles / etc. with my bare hands. It started as a fear of getting an ESD shock, but then it naturally generalized to germs…

Oh well, self-diagnosis is so popular nowadays that people just call themselves anything they want.

Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
I remember thinking nothing of it, then Adsolution came along pointing out that she actually has a diagnosis of OCD, and it's nothing like what most people seem to think (it's way worse), so I've been very careful about it since!
Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
My main obsession is trying to get things done properly. For example, it can be when I'm repairing something, or coding something, even just stuff like composing music. I usually want everything to work properly, and when it comes to music, I keep revisiting songs and making changes to them even though people really advise against doing such things.

Re: What are you OCD about? (Obsessions topic)
Ah yes! Fortunately I've fought it hard to the point I'd say I'm 75% over it now. The compulsions were mostly sensory, like having to twitch my head up a certain way repeatedly, step on/avoid certain sidewalk cracks, touch lampposts and stop signs etc, mentally unwind this weird metaphysical "spinning inertial motor in my body" and so on. They often felt like cruel loop traps where I'd have to twitch my head in just a specific way but the requirements change every single twitch and I don't know what they were until after the given twitch, or in the case of the motor, it's like holding a long rope with something heavy on the end and waiting for it to stop twisting back and forth, back and forth, attempting to use psychic powers to give it very weak bits of force one way or the other. Like those golf jokes where they'll put the ball back and forth on the green, missing the hole by a hair over and over and over.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:27 pmI remember thinking nothing of it, then Adsolution came along pointing out that she actually has a diagnosis of OCD, and it's nothing like what most people seem to think (it's way worse), so I've been very careful about it since!
If I didn't commit to "touching" the objects or stepping in those patterns, I'd feel this immense anxiety/physical ghost pressure on my body to do go back and do the thing properly or I wouldn't be able to relieve it and my mind would be hard-fixated on it for a long time. There's this weird one I haven't really gotten over yet which is avoiding touching anything with my middle finger if I can avoid because it "curses" the thing I'm touching or something. If I do, I have to physically brush the "curse" off with each one of my other fingers multiple times. I think that one in particular is harder to get over because it involves ignoring the "suffering" of the thing I just "cursed" rather than ignoring my own "suffering".
It got bad enough to the point where it started to extend to wanting to hurt my cats in extremely cruel ways () - I never acted on it, so I was forced to figure out how to cope with the stress of not committing to the compulsions, which helped me start getting over it.
For general obsessions, er, I can' think of too many! I try not to get fixated or uptight about anything if it seems unhealthy, specifically as a way of coping with the above. I used to spend extremely long times editing and proofreading every post I made, and though that was never a part of my OCD I've also toned that down massively by proxy.
That sounds like a rather overloaded list… I don't mean to be disrespectful, but early onset Parkinson's is very rare, and I've never noticed any schizophrenic tendencies from you, at least online. I'm not a doctor, but what are your symptoms regarding those two conditions?gamerz31w wrote: Fri Oct 29, 2021 9:24 pmI think I might be struggling with Parkinson,Demention,OCD,ADHD,Schizophrenia,Neurotism,Asperger's Syndrome(Autistic Spectrum),Poor Eyesight(risk of getting permanently blind)?

Well for instance,as an example people such as Adolf Hitler,Michael J. Fox one was suffering with Parkinson another person is still suffering his was diagnosed of being diagnosed with it.Adsolution wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 10:28 pmAh yes! I agree with you Plum, I think most of us here were talking about our obsessions, so I'm going to go ahead and change the title.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 10:35 am I'm not sure it's appropriate to use "OCD" in the title of this thread, since I'm not sure anyone posting here actually has a diagnosis of that disorder

Ever since I lost my games years ago I now sometimes obsess whether I have all my things when travelling somewhere and if anything is missing I tend to panic.
Re: Obsessions topic
I hadn't noticed the mention of avoiding stepping on cracks. I used to be like this a lot, mostly from only walking on the "white" at a zebra crossing, similar to the game where the floor is lava. One thing I had adapted from my mother was the TV volume had to be either an even number or a multiple of 5, but I grew out of this habit lately (especially given our TV seems to have big steps between volume).
I used to be a huge germ-o-phobe when I was a teen, but that actually had stemmed from the school using the glitter example (where it's hard to wash off the glitter), along with me basically having a phobia of vomiting (I believe I still have this), so I would try to avoid becoming sick.
To this day, I still wash my hands a lot, but it's nothing compared to how bad I was as a teen. At that point, I used to literally eat crisps or biscuits from the pack without even touching the food.
Anyway, I do have a lot of general obsessions, like chiptune (mostly trying to "perfect" a song by making a million revisions), or how extensively I looked into MBTI for example. Not everything I obsess over is important and others might even see some of them as pointless or a waste of time, but I find those things interesting / fun.
