Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the GOG.com version a straight up port of Rayman Forever? It should be fine, I haven't heard of any issues.dingodile555 wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:49 am Would anyone recommend the GOG.com release? I read that there was some issues with it, but not sure if those have been fixed or what.
I’ve always wanted Rayman Designer, and I’d also like to play the PC version since I have R1 on ps1.

Re: Rayman 1
It is Rayman Forever, with the CD ripped to a BIN/CUE pair and played through DOSBox.
Re: Rayman 1
Anyone else find it weird that each version of Rayman 1 has some sort of weird oddity and changes? I grew up on Pal Ps1 Rayman and i remember years ago downloading an NTSC rom to play only to find the magicians voice changed, but it doesn't stop there! For some reason the Saturn has a record scratch in the victory theme and funky screen transitions then you have the Japanese copies that replace a majority of the sound effects for no reason then the original Jaguar version has a shoot'em up with Moskito and finally the pc version has deeper voices, tings sound worse and completely different cage layout. What was the need for all these odd changes i'll never understand.
Re: Rayman 1
Same here and yes, it's really weird playing other versions after growing up playing the PS1 version. The NTSC magician having a different voice genuinely had me thinking WTF!?Jhspecks wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:25 am Anyone else find it weird that each version of Rayman 1 has some sort of weird oddity and changes? I own it on every platform now and the weird "yeah" with the scratching sounded so weird to me when I first heard it. I feel like the changes in the sound pitch had something to do with the weird way the PS1 worked when it came to playing sound effects. Most of the sounds had to be converted into weird formats for PS1 in most games. It's really weird and I prefer the PS1 version, then the missing music such as the drumbeat ones are because the PS1 had MIDI while the Saturn doesn't. Music such as Picture City Beat were actually MIDI drums on PS1.
Re: Rayman 1
I actually quite like the MIDI from the ps1 version. Especially during the tricky platforming sections each time the melodies started you knew you were in over your head lol.Steo wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:35 amSame here and yes, it's really weird playing other versions after growing up playing the PS1 version. Another thing i forgot to mention involving the PC version, Tarayzan, Musician and Joe all have full voice acting but then was removed from other PC ports like Classic, GBA and DSi. Rayman also says "I'm Waiting" "Hey, You!" exclusively to the PC version. Weird.
Re: Rayman 1
I also really like the MIDI from PS1 and find Picture City Beat really catchy. As for them removing the voice acting in ports, it's rather strange. Saying that, Rayman 2 was ported from Dreamcast to 3DS and iOS, but why did they remove Globox Village in both? They do some unusual things with ports.

Re: Rayman 1
I just got the PC version from GOG and was literally thinking this. As I’ve always played the PS1 version (and GBA) I was surprised at how many of these differences there are between versions. I can’t adjust to the different ting sound. the PS1 sound is just perfect.
And yes I was bummed about Globox Village being removed from the port on 3DS. I don’t have a Dreamcast so I was excited to go there, and they had to take it out!

That's the thing about the others, it just doesn't feel the same in comparison.dingodile555 wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 3:07 am I just got the PC version from GOG and was literally thinking this. I played the Dreamcast version first and it was only last year I played it, but it's my favourite version by far. I like it so much more than Revolution, especially because of the way it manages to run at 60fps. I also have no idea why its ports have Globox Village taken out or why they never tested Tomb Of The Ancients secret room on 3DS containing the 1000th Lum.dingodile555 wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 3:07 am And yes I was bummed about Globox Village being removed from the port on 3DS. Re: Rayman 1
That bothered me extensively during my first playthrough, since I was struggling to find some of the harder cages, and I tried to consult guides, but there were very few available (remember we are talking about mid-90s here!), and what I could find didn't match my game, because they were probably for the PS1 version.Jhspecks wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:25 amfinally the pc version has deeper voices, tings sound worse and completely different cage layout.
I ended up compiling my own cage list for the PC version and storing it in a text document on my computer, in case someone ever needed it; of course, now, it's obsolete, since so many accurate guides + pictures/videos are available, for every Rayman version out there.

Re: Rayman 1
The one difference I like so far is the PC version’s Bongo Hills intro. It’s a small addition but a nice transition from the forest landscape into Band Land.
Re: Rayman 1
Have any of yous played the Playstation Classic version of Rayman 1? The game seems to be having a very hard time looping tracks now im just guessing here cus ive no knowledge on this but is it because the original game streams audio of the CD and since its emulated its having a harder time locating the right track to play after? I haven't had the time to sit down and check out the rest of that version so i dont know if there are more bugs.
Re: Rayman 1
It has a few bugs on the Classic yeah. None are actually game breaking though is the good thing, just simple graphical glitches, though I heard of some levels even slowing down (dropping in fps). I can't confirm it as I don't have the classic, but that's going off a Digital Foundry video I watched a while back.

Re: Rayman 1
On the GOG version, is there a way to use the D-pad of a controller rather than analog stick? I keep having trouble with the analog stick suddenly not moving me in a certain direction, and D-pad makes more sense for 2D platformers.
Re: Rayman 1
I never did try, but maybe you can use xpadder to map the dpad buttons to the ones on the keyboard that are used for directions.
I can play Origins/Legends with the analog stick, but Rayman 1 is not the same, you'd need a dpad.

Re: Rayman 1
For this reason many controllers have a hardware button to switch D-Pad and Analog stick functionality.dingodile555 wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 4:26 pm On the GOG version, is there a way to use the D-pad of a controller rather than analog stick? Or a keyboard.Steo wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 4:45 pm I can play Origins/Legends with the analog stick, but Rayman 1 is not the same, you'd need a dpad.
Re: Rayman 1
As long as it's digital, it's fine.

Re: Rayman 1
So this is a demo of the unreleased Willie's Adventures? The video uploader could do with using a description.
Anyway, yes, it is uncannily Rayman-esque…
