I actually tried to beat Twilight Gulch in Blue Mountains yesterday but the level is currently too hard for me so I decided I can do it on Saturday as well as SBTC in Rayman 3.

Re: Rayman 1
i personaly dont find rayman 1 too hard (some parts can screw of though)
you just have to get used to it

Re: Rayman 1
Well, yeah, that may be true as I never completed it before. Also, like you said, some parts can really screw you over though and are actually unfair like the large-mouthed fish that approach you from behind in the part where you are on the surface of the water with the buoys in Eat at Joe's or that one part in a level in Picture City with the pencils falling down...

those are just uneseary
Re: Rayman 1
Those super helicopter sections don't bother me, it's the parts in levels where if you get hit, you get knocked back an fall over the edge.
Re: Rayman 1
Oh yeah, that knockback thing reminds me of 17:40 of Caddy's Rayman 1 review:

Re: Rayman 1
True, but there's also Mr. Skops who sends you back a crazy distance.

Re: Rayman 1
I keep revisiting Allegro Presto just to get enough tings to gain an addtional 2 lives. I try to keep my lives at the 30 lives mark before starting a new stage.
Playing Rayman 1 on PS1 today and yesterday, I found that on picture city, the first part was easy, I lost about 5 lives trying to get all the electoons on the first part. Then on the first boss fight with Space Mama I found that it is actually very easy once you find out where to stand and the attack patterns, I only died on that boss fight once.
Picture city doesn't really get hard untill part 2, if you are just trying to get by part 2 of picture city it's hard enough, but actually going after all the electoons and completing the level as I did and then it really becomes a pain. The good news for me was there wasn't a boss at the end of part 2. Part 2 ended up costing me 10 whole lives, which most of the stages I played didn't take much more lives than 1-4. Not even Mr. Stone's levels took as many lives as that 2nk part of Picture City.
I remember part 3 of being very hard, especially the boss fight. I'l see if that boss fight still holds up in difficulty as I take it on soon, today or tomorrow.

Re: Rayman 1
The final boss on picture city got me down from 31 lives all the way down to 7 lives, it was hard because I had no idea what to do. The only way you could beat that boss without dieing is if you knew exactly when, and where to throw your punches, and when and where to dunk and crawl to. Can you believe I didn't have to use a continue on it? Sometime soon I am going to go back to Alegro Presto to get my lives all the way back up to 30. Sometimes it ends back up at 31 lives. I refuse to use the 99 lives cheat cause I feel like I won't get as good at the game if I don't feel like my continue could be on the line. I didn't really struggle as much as i thought I would on the game untill I got to the 2nk part of picture city. I actually have all the cages collected from Pink Plant Woods all the way up to the first part of Mr. Skops.
Re: Rayman 1
It's basically a pattern with a learning curve and it's honestly really easy after you learn it, though it's very unforgiving at first.
Re: Rayman 1
You could just play Allegro Presto like 40 times and end up with 99 lives without cheating.Raymanarenaps2 wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2019 9:14 pmSometime soon I am going to go back to Alegro Presto to get my lives all the way back up to 30. Re: Rayman 1
I don't need 99 lives at this point, the Caves of Skops is a lot easier in caparison to Picture City. At least I know that boss is easier, perhaps maybe the levels will prove that I need more lives than 30.
Re: Rayman 1
Finally completed The Hard Rocks. It's a level that's tough as nails and I'm so glad to have finally finished it and don't have to go backtrack it. The pattern for when the Stone men move backwards or forward after you hit them when they're about to throw the lava rocks at you is just completely random! And in the next level I'll actually get the running power!
Re: Rayman 1
I usually just keep jumping and hitting those stone men as fast as I can and they fall after a few hits. Keep in mind that Rayman swings a fairly powerful punch without charging when you punch in mid air.
Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, I know about the hitting them fast thing and all that, but I didn't know that Rayman could actually swing a stronger punch when he punches in mid-air, that's pretty cool. I have actually tried that too, but I didn't succeed when I tried to do it in Twilight Gulch at the part where Mr Stone chases you with the rocks you have to punch out. I'll try again though and experiment with it in areas where I have lots of time to do so and I'll keep that in mind, thanks.Steo wrote: Mon Mar 25, 2019 7:00 pm I usually just keep jumping and hitting those stone men as fast as I can and they fall after a few hits. Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, I always like to jump and punch if I don't have the gold fist, because charging is just tedious.
