I still remember the day I signed up to tell my tale of how much I love Rayman, then proceeded to talk about how the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 is much better than Revolution and that Revolution runs like crap

The first time I literally every visited was around December/January when I was having trouble getting enough Lums on one of the levels in Rayman Origins.

I think I landed on rpc a few times before I joined when I was always just googling things about Rayman, I was mostly on RaymanZone at the time.

Rayman Revolution, as laggy of a console the PS2 was is in no doubt a superior version then the Dreamcast version.
It opens Rayman's universe like it has never before, and they even did the Rayman and Bzit as buddys like in Rayman 1.
Many charcters had more roles in the game compared to other versions. Not to mention the amount of voiced languages including the Raymanian language. The PS2 just had lag issues with many games, like Sonic Heroes. The game itself is the best version.

No matter what anyone else thinks, I prefer the Dreamcast version by far for several reasons. The main ones are that it runs exceptionally well with very few drops from 60fps and the other is that it's not full of glitches like Revolution. It was hell for me to even get through Revolution with all those glitches (having to constantly reset the PS2) and at 25fps with a LOT of drops, so many that it hardly ever even gets 25fps.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I personally prefer the Dreamcast one over the rest by miles and it's the only one that natively supports widescreen.

The Dreamcast version is a great version for sure, I can see why people prefer it due to its performance, but technically Rayman Revolution just does so much more.

I agree that Revolution was a brilliant idea and the game itself is outstanding, but it just wasn't optimised very well due to the small team behind it and the use of Renderware, hence the low performance and massive amount of glitches present.

I think the Dreamcast version is so far ahead of it's time considering the fact that it has half the RAM of the PS2 for a start and clearly a much weaker CPU, yet it was optimised so well that it runs like it does.

The widescreen support on Dreamcast is great too. It may be anamorphic widescreen, but none of the other versions of the game were anything other than 4:3, not even Revolution despite it being released later and on a more powerful console too which is capable of using component output.

I also prefer the Dreamcast version as it stays true to the original while Revolution mixes up level names and brings some laudable yet failed ideas such as the infamous Grolem 13. It's got its share of cool stuff, such as the main hubs and zombie pirates, but they fail to make up for the game's mistakes, in my opinion.

Yay someone that has the same opinion as me on Rayman 2 :P

The Dreamcast is the first version of Rayman 2 I played and my favourite version. I have tried the rest of them and it is just my favourite version for so many reasons that it would take me ages to list them all.

I feel like some people are trying to tell me that I'm wrong and that I should like Revolution more, well I don't and I'd rather the Dreamcast version. I have said before that there's no true "best" version of Rayman 2, it's a matter of preference. I choose the Dreamcast version because I "personally" much prefer it and that's my opinion.

My first post can reflect on that since it said the exact same thing basically.

Rayman 2 just reminds me of my first visit, because that's what I was in the middle of playing when I joined RPC and it's what my first post was about :P

That's why I drifted a little off topic

I actually found out about this forum via RayTunes, I can't remember when it was made though, I was looking around the wiki as well but didn't want to make an account. I tried to make one ages ago but I didn't get an activation email and I didn't see the 'contact a board admin' so I just left.
Obviously I tried again and here I am now, in this wonderful forum! :D

Hunch and Hoodcom are cool, so one of them likely would have sorted it out if they had known at the time. Still, you're here now and it's always nice to see new members. :D

I'm getting some nostalgia now from when I joined here last year. I had only played Origins and Legends a couple of weeks before signing up. I was switching between Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 at the time I signed up, I literally knew hardly anything about Rayman unless it was Rayman 1 we were talking about, since I played that a lot as a kid.

This place made me learn so much about the games in so little time, that I wen't from knowing nothing last year to knowing almost everything now. I became a little obsessed with Rayman after playing Origins and signing up here. :P

EDIT: I actually knew so little about Rayman when I first joined, that I thought Pirate meant Piracy. I didn't know what a Robo-Pirate was.

I can remember signing up here because I figured out that someone who made their own remake of Rayman 3 from Unreal Engine (after seeing a video about it and all) and followed through their link to here.

I am also here because of seeing Haruka Tavares' walkthrough videos.

Happy ten years to me! Ha. Seems like just a couple of years ago I signed up with that gaudy Mario Kart Wii signature.
