What are your thoughts on the 30th Anniversary Edition of Rayman 1?

I love it, it's exactly what I expected!

I love it, but I think the price is a bit excessive for what it is.

It's fine, although I'm not entirely convinced by the soundtrack.

It's okay, although I wouldn't have included the accessibility options (infinite lives, etc.).

I expected more from Ubisoft. They should have made some improvements, just like the fans did with Rayman Redemption.

I played the Dreamcast version first and I do prefer it after playing all of the others too. I personally think the extra enemies make it more of a challenge and more fun to play, considering that Rayman 2 really isn't a difficult game to begin with. It is incredibly fun though. :D

I recently finished the Dreamcast version on NullDC, and I found the game very enjoyable myself. Considering that I'm more used to the PC version, I was taken aback at all the random pirate encounters i got in places like The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava that normally aren't there in PC version, but I like how it added to the difficulty and made the game more fun as Steo stated above.

Because we all should know what happens when the pirate drills up right under where Rayman is standing.
Oogh, don't remind me....
When I made that mistake as a kid, I was like, "What the heck just happened?"

I just hold the strafe button while fighting them and keep sidestepping. He automatically targets them as they come back up.

I must actually play the game again soon, all this talk of it makes me want to revisit it again. :D

Well, nothing negative about the extra enemies!
I voted "no opinion" because I never played the Dreamcast version.

The next poll is about Murfy's introduction (or lack thereof) to the camera controls in Rayman 2. I ask since it took me years to actually realize that there's a first-person camera look mode in Rayman 2, and it really helps appreciate the detail in the environments.

What? There is? I don't remember Murfy saying anything about that and I'm pretty sure he indeed didn't. Wow. And which button is that again because I think I somewhat remember?

On PC, it's zero on the numpad. Makes sense, since you "zero in" on what you're looking at.

I voted yes. It even took me a while to find out you could do it on Dreamcast, but it's both triggers at once on Dreamcast. Usually you use X and Y to rotate the camera and I think that's all Murfy explains.

Wow, that's even worse! Though on the PC version, the character "0" is just written, which one could mistake for "O", and then give up when that does nothing. :P Anyway, no wonder nobody could answer this question back then…

So, who voted that Murfy's list was sufficient? :mefiant:

DERP!!!! Me.

I played the N64 version a lot and used to play the PS1 version back then. I always understood the camera controls very well when I got a read of Murfy's?/Ly's advice. Even on my first time EVER, playing Rayman 2.

He doesn't tell you how to use first person controls though as far as I can recall and I played each one.

Wait, one of the magic stones doesn't tell you anything about "Look mode" in the PS1 version?

Maybe it did, but it isn't explained very well at all because I didn't know about it until I randomly hit the 2 triggers on my Dreamcast.

Well, if it's explained properly on the PS1 version, then that's a different kettle of fish!

I'd go as far as to say it's extraordinary if it's explained correctly on PS1.

R4Y, we await your confirmation of this. :mefiant:

Well, apart from first-person camera, Purple Lums briefly occupied a position in my thoughts last week (to do with those purple droplets that had me derping for a while), so here's one that relates to those.
I guess option 4 is the booby option this time around, but I decided to put it in there lest option 3 be considered too presumptuous. :fou:

I'm a little bit silly, but it turns out Murfy does mention the triggers. :P

He doesn't explain that it enters first person, and also pressing X and Y simultaneously is wrong. The camera can only rotate one way at a time.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread

Actually it turns out pressing X and Y simultaneously makes the camera face forwards again, but if pressing L does that anyway then what's the point. :P

Still, a better explanation would be nice instead of having to press all the buttons Murfy mentions to see what they even do.

EDIT: Turns out those buttons just make the camera snap to the position rather than slowly rotating, and also I voted yes on the current poll. :hap:

Here are the results for the previous poll…

…and for the next one I've got bupkis! :fou: Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, do you think I should use img tags in the first post so you can see old poll results without having to click the links? I think it would give a better overview of the Rayman community's opinion as it's developed over the lifetime of this thread…

What about, can you complete Rayman 2 within 48 hours?

Jokes aside, what about whether people really view Rayman Revolution as Rayman 2, despite the amount of differences? Or maybe even whether people prefer the gibberish (Raymanian) or English audio for that matter.

EDIT: Also, I personally think the img tags in the first post would be a good idea. :hap:
