Are you talking about the German version?Aaron wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2019 1:26 pm The Dreamcast version also calls it Aglagl and even has a yellow glow around him. I didn't know the N64 version calls him that too, that's kind of interesting.

Re: Rayman 2
That is interesting indeed
Makes me question why they changed it in the first place

Re: Rayman 2
Why would that version have a difference? It's just the same game, only under a different language.

Re: Rayman 2
I mean why the english version changed his french name in the first place since umber and foutch have the same name in french i think
Aside Foutch has an extra r(froutch) and umber has an extra o (oumber) that isnt that major however
Umber on ps1 however was renamed to colosus

Re: Rayman 2
Because the characters have different names in different languages?Aaron wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2019 1:33 pm Why would that version have a difference? It's just the same game, only under a different language.
Guys, let's not overcomplicate this. The French and English names are:
Aglagl <=> Axel
Oumbr <=> Umber
Froutch <=> Foutch
Now apparently other languages mix them up between platforms, which is odd.
Re: Rayman 2
Oh, well, sorry, that's true and you're right, I actually did see French gameplay videos of Rayman 2 and Umber is called Oumbr in the French version and I did see the English version's Foutch being written as "Froutch" in a gameplay video.
Sorry, I'm just dumb sometimes and this time I forgot why that would make a difference.

Re: Rayman 2
Don't sweat it.
Anyway, looks like the Purple Lum thing is just to indicate to you that it's receptive to grabbing. In some cases, the radius is so small that when you get close enough your only options are to grab it (obviously suppressing the effect) or to fall to your death (which I must admit is anathema to me
). For those interested, the radius is stored in the DSG variable "Float_11".

Re: Rayman 2
Okay then.
I completed Rayman 2 yesterday and defeated Razorbeard on PC too now! I also played some Menezis because I thought it was the end of the game and I can go for it plus I wanted to play it a lot for a long time, so I did and it's actually a pretty decent, fun game! While it's kind of difficult, that's what makes it even more enjoyable and I like the concept that you are an E shooting at other letters (and even numbers later on) like O's, X's and 8's. I like how they made every letter's shots different: how the X's just shoot one bullet at a time, the O shoots a cluster of bullets in a circle (one bullet at a time) and how the 8 gets behind you and also shoots a cluster of bullets, though diagonally and forward. I actually got to the part where the 8 got behind me and I think that's already a quite decent score.
I also went back to The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire today since I only got 33 out of 50 Lums there last time and only 3 out of 8 cages since I deliberately missed out on the optional segment because man, that walking shell segment there with the awkward narrow path near the end and everything, it's just so tedious and frustrating! But I decided to do it only because I thought if I wanted to reveal the next piece of lore in The Knowledge of the World, I'd have to go back to it, so I did just that, yet I still managed to get most of the Lums, though not all as I got only 45 of 50 Lums this time around and 7 out of the 8 cages. I mean, that is a big improvement, but I do want to get to Omniscient level and see the last piece of the story, so I am gonna go back to it again, I just have no idea at the moment where those last Lums and cage could be.
Anyway, I love the Knowledge of the World because of the way it tells the story makes it all that interesting and makes going back for every nook and cranny worthwhile. While I do know a lot about Rayman and the series so far, I actually learned a few things from it yesterday!
But yeah, I am gonna revisit every level and I am determined I could reach that Omniscient level once.

Re: Rayman 2
The n64 versions framerate is kinda shit but its a good version
The controller (mostly the stick) on the n64 makes it harder to play though

Re: Rayman 2
I have that version but I haven't managed to play it yet since I put the CRT in the shed. My TV is too new to have composite or S-video.
Re: Rayman 2
Some time ago I read about modification of Dreamcast console to support HDMI.
The only downside - it contain some Intel chip and costs 150$:
https://translate.google.pl/translate?s ... sluga_hdmi
But VGA-Box still suppose to provide 60 FPS, e.g. in Rayman 2, maybe not with such decent quality, but still.

Re: Rayman 2
I have the Toro box for Dreamcast and it does look really nice compared to RGB since it's 480p. That's through my OSSC though and I know the HDMI mod would be even better again.
I brought in the CRT to try it for some of my old consoles again, but it's broken.

Re: Rayman 2
Alright, I have a question here. Is it actually possible to sneak by sleeping Robo-pirates when using a keyboard and playing the PC version of Rayman 2? On Dreamcast I have to sneak like Splinter Cell and if I walk too fast they wake up, but if you have no choice but to run full speed on keyboard then I assume you can never sneak past them.
Re: Rayman 2
Yeah, and to do so, all you have to do is press down the Shift button while walking.
Re: Rayman 2
If you mean strafing then they still wake up if I strafe on Dreamcast. I have to literally walk slower with the analog stick like in stealth games.
Re: Rayman 2
I actually didn't word that correctly, you're right. I meant walking there and another thing I didn't say clearly is I only said you have to hold down the Shift button to walk and didn't specify which Shift you have to hold while pressing the arrows to move. You actually have to hold down the Left Shift button to walk while pressing the arrows to move around and that's how you walk. That's also how you sneak past the pirates without waking them up.
