Maybe have a poll about whether it is a good idea for all schools to do mandatory drug tests on their students?

To prevent drugs from being sold in schools we should forbid education to the blacks.
We all know they're the drug dealers.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
What about a simple one that I don't think was asked, how often a person consumes alcohol? Probably with options such as frequently, occasionally, seldom, or never. The only alcohol related poll was about the US age being 21.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I don't know what it is about updating this thread that feels so effortful.
I just can't bring myself to do it, even when I have a perfectly fine suggestion (and now two).
We'll do them in order of suggestion, as is traditional. Just wait a few minutes…

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
On this poll, I think it's ridiculous to perform drug tests on every single student. At the same time, I know that way too many people these days are obsessed with drugs, so I went with it's a good idea, but impractical.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
It is bullshit.
Knowing that I would have to go through that every single time if that would happen for real. But everyone can't be trusted so "good idea but impractical".

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I initially went with yes but changed my mind and have recently changed that vote to "good idea, but impractical" as well but like R4Y said, you can't trust everyone, so there's that.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
It’s true that there are a lot of kids these days who do drugs like weed, but at the same time there are also kids who have to take prescription drugs based on their health, will they be submit to something? And as others have said it’s not really foolproof

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Am I the only one who thinks this shouldn't be the school's responsibility at all?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
It shouldn't be, and I chose the impractical one for that reason, but so many teenagers let substances take over their lives and ruin their education too. Maybe the parents can be to blame in some cases, but not all. In some cases, they would turn to drugs when their parents didn't raise them well, some just give into peer pressure, and some just decide to go down a bad road all by themselves.
I guess you have a point though, it's really not the school's responsibility for someone who goes down that road, it's really the parents/guardians. I still don't think students should be under the influence in school either, so in that sense the schools should know, but again it's impractical as they'd be testing everyone, and they shouldn't have to be responsible for it at all.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
The schools should not go through that trouble. Because it is the people's own fault but I guess "better than safe than sorry" is what I might have been thinking when choosing that option.
I must say though, the next fart of the running of the polls will be an interesting one.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I wouldn't be too surprised if a parent wouldn't want their child to have a drug test in their own school (especially if they already know their child is taking drugs). Either way, I think the stigma around drug use is overblown and the cause of getting into hard drugs goes deeper than gateway drugs, so a mandatory drug test probably wouldn't help the problem and might even make it worse.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
On the flipside, if they knew their child wasn't taking drugs, they would also find it offensive.Ambidextroid wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:33 pm I wouldn't be too surprised if a parent wouldn't want their child to have a drug test in their own school (especially if they already know their child is taking drugs).
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Serves to check that the boys do not take drugs. Therefore they should not be offended

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Well, if someone's coming in off their head, then surely a test is not required for the teachers to figure out what's going on. Likewise, if it's (miraculously) not affecting academic performance, why should the school care?
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
In my opinion thé school should take care of it because, since the school must also educate to be a good citizen, this could be a way.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I don't think taking drugs makes someone a "bad citizen", unless they're so out of it that they start endangering other people. Sure it's harmful but so is eating sugar, yet people do it in excess all the time. For some cultural reason our attitudes to unhealthy eating and taking drugs are entirely different but I don't really see why.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
Given how unpopular my opinion seems to be, I'm tempted to head over to this thread again and see where I am now in relation to other members. But anyway, time to move on:
Given that I've had alcohol two or three times in my life, I can't say "never", so I've just gone with "less often".
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I feel like I'm going to have the most unpopular opinion ever here.
Re: The Awesome and Cool Poll Thread
I will never drink. Simple as that.
