Whereas an oops doesn't necessarily crash the whole system but usually leaves it unstable. Like getting a BSOD in Windows 98 and pressing any key to continue.Steo wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:36 pmAh the old kernel panic.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 5:48 pmIt's a Linux kernel thing. The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 5:47 pmWell to me an oops doesn't really register as needing to do a panic attack....![]()

I only ever remember the old blue STOP error and I always had to force the computer off.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:43 pmWhereas an oops doesn't necessarily crash the whole system but usually leaves it unstable. Maybe it was, I can't actually recall what happened on 98. I think my computer was set to just shut off when it had an error back then.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:21 pmWas that on XP?Steo wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:44 pmI only ever remember the old blue STOP error and I always had to force the computer off.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:43 pmWhereas an oops doesn't necessarily crash the whole system but usually leaves it unstable. Well, if we want to remind ourselves, we just have to watch that CNN clip with Bill Gates.Steo wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 7:23 pmMaybe it was, I can't actually recall what happened on 98.
