Re: The You Game!
< enjoyed it a lot, to the point that < can't wait to go back.
Re: The You Game!
< has to look at a broken TV again. < isn't sure how it happened, but the only explanation is that the connection for the back-light array got hot enough to melt the solder.
Re: The You Game!
How the heck does that happen???Steo wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2020 6:45 pm […] the connection for the back-light array got hot enough to melt the solder.![]()
Wait, < sees that PS3s can do that too.
< hopes you get it fixed.
Re: The You Game!
< postponed it for now, the traces are kind of damaged, so the connection would have been weak. < will try again during the week, bypassing the traces with cable to alternative points should solve it if that's possible.

Re: The You Game!
< just heard that Perl 6 was renamed to "Raku" last October.
< can't blame them, since 20 years later, "Perl" still implicitly means "Perl 5" to basically everyone…
< also just realized that Zelen writes like MLII.

Re: The You Game!
< sees that Brexit has come into effect, as the UK are no longer part of the EU. < wonders how this will effect people in the long run.

Re: The You Game!
< imagines it will "effect" people in 40 weeks' time, if any emotional men and women decide to celebrate in a "carnal" manner, like often happens on New Year's Eve.
More seriously, < imagines it will affect all of us negatively - the absolute best one can hope for is administrative headaches when dealing with UK companies.

Re: The You Game!
< expects buying stuff online to cause headaches now, considering import tax is probably likely from the UK. < even wonders about companies such as Tesco, and what might happen with the border in Northern Ireland.

Re: The You Game!
< thinks it might precipitate a reunification of Ireland, which would most likely upset as many people as it makes happy.

Re: The You Game!
< does think it seems a bit odd to think of how a small country can have the majority of a province be outside the EU.

Re: The You Game!
< thinks it'll be sad to see the two islands with their heads sectioned off on the map then.
Re: The You Game!
< thinks it would be strange, England and Northern Ireland, then Ireland and Scotland being in the same continents in a criss-cross fashion.

< is still enamoured of this idea: http://thomas.bibby.ie/supercalifragili ... caledonia/
Re: The You Game!
< enjoyed that interesting read Plum, though could you honestly imagine us Scots accepting the name Hireno-Caledonia.

Re: The You Game!
< really thinks xenophobia is the straw man of the Brexit debate. There are certainly a bunch of good arguments against Brexit, but reducing all criticism of immigration politics to xenophobia (or worse, racism) is rather pathetic.A country that’s part-British but without the xenophobia
Re: The You Game!
< is considering installing Gentoo on <'s computer. < was thinking of cloning the SSD so it can be reverted if something goes wrong, but reinstalling Arch from scratch shouldn't take that long if need be.
Re: The You Game!
< wishes ^ luck with the Gentoo install. < knows how long it takes
