Re: The You Game!
< is thinking of buying an AMD GPU again soon since the Mesa drivers are good and the cards work better for Linux. < will probably get something like an RX 5700 XT.

< is interested to see what NVIDIA's big open-source announcement will be next month. Though previous such announcements have turned out to be "nothing-burgers", as one Phoronix reader put it…

Re: The You Game!
< is happy to see ^ reappear, even if it is just for a nostalgia trip.
< was nostalgia tripping this morning when the theme from The Morbegs was on the radio, as part of a daily competition where they play music and people have to guess what film / TV show it came from. < felt old upon realizing that it was the first children's program they had on that competition that < actually remembered from childhood…

< is also old, < remembers The Morbegs a lot! < used to watch it a lot as a kid, < even still remembers how the theme sounded.
< also says hi to ^^, nice to see a member stop by that's been here for quite a while.

Re: The You Game!
< finds it funny to see ^ pop up just as < is planning next month's trip to Norway.
Re: The You Game!
< would like to see a project for NVIDIA similar to Mesa, but until then, < thinks it might make more sense to have an AMD GPU, considering Vulkan works well enough on them to play Rayman Origins properly without any sort of missing sprite issues (D9VK). If it makes that much of a difference for a 2D game, < can only imagine what it could be doing for 3D games.PluMGMK wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 8:53 pm < is interested to see what NVIDIA's big open-source announcement will be next month. <'s main reason for thinking of the RX 5700 XT is that it's almost as good as an RTX 2080, while also being much cheaper, similar to the AMD vs Intel price to performance lately.

Cool! Let < know if ^ needs prescription drugs. Or an appendectomy.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 2:58 pm< finds it funny to see ^ pop up just as < is planning next month's trip to Norway.
Re: The You Game!
< managed to completely mess up <'s Arch installation. < tried to install SteamOS on another SSD, but the computer ignored what < had instructed during installation and insisted on deleting everything on <'s main SSD.

Re: The You Game!
< is so sorry for ^, knowing how that feels.
< remembers not installing SteamOS back when it was brand-new, because < did indeed get it into <'s head not to trust the installer to put it where < wanted it. < would have thought it'd be better by now.

Re: The You Game!
< decided to replay Portal Pro this afternoon. The puzzles are still challenging, the music is still mind-blowing, but the story's still just a bit of a let-down.

< has actually never, ever played a Portal game.
Re: The You Game!
< enjoyed Portal 1 and 2 when < played them, they were nice puzzle games.
< got up in the attic to check where the leak was after seeing the patch on the ceiling, turns out a floorboard up there is soaked. < just put a basin on top of the wet floorboard for now since it's been raining, and it's supposed to continue over the weekend.

Re: The You Game!
< doesn't love the series as much as < used to (probably due to having overplayed it in the old days), but < must recommend trying it, just like spiraldoor did for < (and DesLife) ten years ago.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that was your 77777th message!
