I decided to make some changes to the first post. I'll try keep it updated as the game receives updates and/or bug fixes.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I wonder if it's intentional that you lose whenever you die? Because if so, it makes the checkpoints in a certain level more of a hindrance than a help, and is a really frustrating design decision that caused my first game over…

Re: Rayman Redemption
I know which level you’re talking about, and yeah it’s frustrating, especially given how one of the phases in that level is designed. I also had the unfortunate occurrence of having to collect a key again even when I had already unlocked the door and used a checkpoint.

I found one not cheat code RYEMANNI . xD Amazing job @Ryemanni. I softlocked myself in one level, first level of Brain Games as small Rayman. Also, I had a problem to beat red guy in Band Land, second chase of Bad Rayman and I gave up with Mr. Dark. 88% of game and I need to rest.

Re: Rayman Redemption
Fixed Bzzit buttonmashing? Definitely a great idea!
Re: Rayman Redemption
I was actually comfortable with the button mashing. I didn't mind it.
Re: Rayman Redemption
It probably should be like Origins in that case, where holding the button fires at a steady rate, but button mashing is faster. I think it's supposed to fire kind of slow though considering the speed power ups.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I just tried the game and it's pretty neat! I stopped after the first level however as my shit laptop keyboard seems to ignore my inputs half of the time, and that's when it doesn't decide to repeat the last input indefinitely, making Rayman walk towards an inescapable death while really I'm not pressing any keys.
I'll see if I can get a PS3 or PS4 controller to work with my laptop, hopefully it's not as much of a pain in the ass as it was ten years back.

Re: Rayman Redemption
The PS4 controllers usually just work out of the box, and if not, DS4Tool would work and map it like an Xbox controller. For some reason the PS3 controller is just plug and play on Linux, so I've been using this, since the PS1 version of Rayman was my preferred one anyway.Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 6:13 pm I'll see if I can get a PS3 or PS4 controller to work with my laptop, hopefully it's not as much of a pain in the ass as it was ten years back.

Re: Rayman Redemption
I presume Sony added pretty good support back when they encouraged people to install Linux on PS3s. You know, before they sued that guy for taking what they felt was too much liberty, and locked down the platform for everyone...
At least, that's my recollection, but since I can't even remember the guy's name, maybe I have the order of events wrong.

Even Kotaku published an article about the remake: https://kotaku.com/the-entire-first-ray ... 1844156132
Congratulations to Ryemanni for all his hardwork! I hope I can play the game someday.

Re: Rayman Redemption
It does just seem ironic considering how making it work on Windows was always a headache.PluMGMK wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:44 pm I presume Sony added pretty good support back when they encouraged people to install Linux on PS3s.

This is actually pretty interesting...Early versions of the PlayStation 3 system software also provided a feature called OtherOS that was available on the PS3 systems prior to the slimmer models launched in September 2009. This feature enabled users to install an operating system such as Linux, but due to security concerns, Sony later removed this functionality through the 3.21 system software update. According to Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), disabling this feature will help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system. Sony was successfully sued in a class action over the removal of this feature. The settlement was approved in September 2016. Sony agreed to pay up to $55 to as many as 10 million PS3 owners but denied wrongdoing.

They do indeed! Now that's a nicer setup than my shit keyboard.Steo wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 6:30 pm The PS4 controllers usually just work out of the box, and if not, DS4Tool would work and map it like an Xbox controller.
(Yeah, I know I'm playing in casual mode. I actually enjoy it more.
Re: Rayman Redemption
At least the game is playable this way.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 5:41 pm They do indeed! Now that's a nicer setup than my shit keyboard.
I went for classic myself, but only because I played the first game so much that I got really good at it. I'll probably get game over before I finish the game due to the differences though.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Jun 26, 2020 5:41 pm (Yeah, I know I'm playing in casual mode. I actually enjoy it more.)

Re: Rayman Redemption
I play in Classic mode for the same reason. My life count peaked in the high thirties around Picture City, and now I've got two Game Overs since entering Candy Château.
I guess I would've gotten higher life counts if 100 Tings automatically turned into a life like in the original, but on the other hand, in Redemption life statues respawn when you die, unlike the original.
