< is sure he'll be back at some stage also. < thinks the main thing is that he's doing OK.
< is going to go get tea before < decides to go back to working on <'s system.

Re: The You Game!
< recently started sleeping downstairs bc of <‘s sister’s quarantine, but < seems to have altered <‘s sleep schedule by doing so. The past few days < would get up in the morning, then fall asleep as soon as < went upstairs.
Re: The You Game!
< wonders if she tested positive? Either way, < wishes her a speedy recovery.

Re: The You Game!
She actually tested negative, however she was told to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks. It's been a week or so now, so it might be a few more days before <'s sister has to go get tested again.
Re: The You Game!
This doesn't sound too bad then, it could be just a common cold or flu in that case. Those still tend to happen from the change in weather.

Re: The You Game!
< doesn't understand how colds can be transmitted if everyone's following the guidelines. Of course it's definitely happening, which kind of erodes confidence in the whole thing...
Re: The You Game!
I don't know, but < was, and still is pretty skeptical about the intensity and seriousness of this virus.
I mean, the media has blown this situation so out of proportion at this stage that it feels to < like they're trying to fearmonger people, like they always do.

Re: The You Game!
< thinks in many cases, a dose of this virus wouldn't be any worse than the flu, but then it would probably be like pneumonia since it affects your lungs. The issue is that some people with autoimmune disorders or problems with their lungs can get extremely sick from it. They can also get really sick from the flu or pneumonia, but the difference is that there's medication to cure those, unlike the virus. This is why the governments are trying to warn others to stop the spread, and < knows that most people probably wouldn't listen unless they were scared...

Re: The You Game!
< definitely agrees with this, this virus has been blown way out of proportion. Though it’s not helping that many people in the US aren’t wearing masks and risk putting themselves in danger/transmitting the disease. Bc of those people it’s become a law to wear masks and it feels like it will take longer for the US ago reopen to the public. < doesn’t delight having to wear a mask but < has to be careful. < has tried going out with a scarf around <‘s nose and mouth but <‘s dad said it looked silly.Aaron wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 4:47 pm I don't know, but < was, and still is pretty skeptical about the intensity and seriousness of this virus.

At any rate, <‘s sister is getting tested on Thursday so < will keep updates here.
Re: The You Game!
< thinks it's people just refusing to adhere to the guidelines that's making the virus get blown out of proportion too though, since it's been making it spread like crazy. If people had done what they were told in the first place, it never even would have become an epidemic.

Re: The You Game!
< knows that the mortality rate of the virus is 1% (or higher if the medical system gets pressurized, which is what we're trying to avoid by "flattening the curve"), which is too high to ignore, but too low for it to burn itself out (which happened with the original SARS I think) or to lead to Darwinian evolution of a less-deadly strain (which some think is what happened to the "Spanish" flu a century ago). There's also a lot of anecdotal evidence of otherwise-healthy people being brought to death's door by the pneumonia that this virus causes, which is really scary. < is hopeful that existing antiviral meds will turn out to be effective against it, but there isn't enough hard clinical evidence for now.
Btw, < has realized that < learned about World War I and the Irish War of Independence in History class in secondary school, but < doesn't recall a word being said about the "Spanish" flu. Feels like a weird omission, like if our descendants a century from now end up learning about Brexit but not COVID-19.

Re: The You Game!
< did hear some stories about how the virus can cause permanent lung damage, which in itself doesn't sound good. < also heard about people <'s age that died from it a while back, despite the advice they gave about it only being dangerous for the elderly. < thinks the idea is just that the elderly or people with autoimmune disorders are more at risk than others, but they made it out that you're completely fine as long as you're neither of those things, which was clearly extremely wrong...

Re: The You Game!
< thinks it's best to always be aware and not believe everything that's been said about it, as this virus is still relatively new and it will likely time to find a cure. < hopes they'll find a cure for this disease eventually, having to stay inside and wear a mask when < goes outside constantly is stifling (fogs up <'s glasses often).
Re: The You Game!
< still thinks it's best to take precautions, even if they're saying it's ok to go out again and go back to normal, I'd rather not listen to that and still continue to be careful.

Re: The You Game!
< is theoretically allowed to go back to work, but only part-time, when there are fewer than 14 other people in the office, and still staying two metres away from everyone else. < really doesn't see the point. < used to like being able to hop into the lab and do the odd test if < thought of anything, but that was so occasional and spur-of-the-moment that it's simply irrelevant now.

Re: The You Game!
WIth this pandemic, remote work might and probably has become more popular these days.

< agrees, until this whole thing blows over, it's better to just stay inside. Ofc, it's not helping <'s case if <'s dad constantly sends < out to walk each day.Steo wrote: Tue Jul 07, 2020 8:08 pm < still thinks it's best to take precautions, even if they're saying it's ok to go out again and go back to normal, I'd rather not listen to that and still continue to be careful.

< wonders if ^'s dad is trying to make ^ sick.
Re: The You Game!
< knows you’re just joking, and < knows Jonster knows so, but < personally doesn’t think it’s that funny.
Even though < did get a lil chuckle from it.

Ah I see, so while ^ doesn't think its funny, ^ think it's amusing. That makes sense.
Which is ok bc < also got a laugh out of it.
Maybe <'s dad is trying to make < sick so < will be restricted to <'s room and lose weight from lack of food.

Re: The You Game!
< wasn't being serious clearly, why would anyone's parents want them to get sick.
< would only say things like this jokingly.

(I'm not laughing at anyone, but this statement just sounds funny)
