Re: Fears!
Same. I get so dizzy from looking down from tall heights. Also, I hate sudden loud noises too.

Re: Fears!
As a kid I also didn't like heights, like I'd always try to avoid looking down, but that never works and it just makes me more anxious.

Nuts, I'm planning to visit my relatives there in the future. I''ll just make sure to bring really good sound-deafening headphones when I go there then.Hunchman801 wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 6:06 pmWell I hope you never leave in the UK, sirens there are absolutely deafening. The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 11, 2018 5:17 pm As a kid I used to have fears of very loud alarms. Re: Fears!
Do you not have smoke alarms or house alarms in the USA? I'd only get a fright from something like an unexpected loud bang, not a constant loud siren/alarm.

Re: Fears!
Yeah we do. Actually I have both in my house, though I wasn't aware of the smoke alarm until one time when my sister burned something and it went off. Was pretty ear-piercing and totally freaked me out a little since it came from nowhere. But yeah unexpected alarms were much more scarier than loud sirens/alarms.
Re: Fears!
We have these really loud ones where there's 4 in the house, where they're all linked, so if one goes off they all do. The only thing that would give me a fright is if they go off unexpectedly and I jump, same as with a loud bang. Aside from that, the loud noise isn't scary because I'm 27.
Re: Fears!
I hate unexpected/loud noises. I still remember when an alarm clock went off out of nowhere. Hold on, let me find the post…

Re: Fears!
Certain kinds of loud noises used to give me nightmare fuel tbh, but that was a long time ago (like elementary school days lol)
Hm, I didn't think alarms could be linked together. None of my 2 alarms are linked together, they're each triggered by separate circumstances (one's smoke, the other occurs when you don't disable the alarm fast enough).Steo wrote: Sun Dec 09, 2018 5:06 pm We have these really loud ones where there's 4 in the house, where they're all linked, so if one goes off they all do. Re: Fears!
Well I do get a fright from sudden loud noises, but I'm not literally scared of loud noise.
These smoke alarms are linked together, they control each other wirelessly. There's one in the hall, landing, sittingroom and the one in the kitchen is a heat sensor. If one of those goes off, the others will sound too so as to wake us all up if there was a fire. You have to turn off the one that triggered them though to make them stop.

Re: Fears!
LOL! My fears are just Spiders(except for Jumping & Peacock), Falling, Heights, Snakes(Hognose Snakes are the cutest), and MOVIE THEATERS(don't ask why)
Re: Fears!
I'm not scared of spiders, but I do hate seeing them in my house. I am however terrified of heights, I'm not even going to try deny that. I get vertigo when I look down from a height and my legs just give up.

Re: Fears and Phobias
I have to admit, I have quite a few phobias… Trypophobia is not one of them though – something I only heard of lately due to the (very much) alleged triggering of it by some feature of the new iPhone.
Re: Fears and Phobias
Like others I have a fear of bees, wasps, and other large flying insects.
Re: Fears and Phobias
I'm mainly just scared of heights.

Re: Fears and Phobias
I feel like I've gotten over a lot of my fears with the exception of bees and wasp noises. Spiders I still don't like on my skin but I can stand seeing them now, just that their webs are getting a bit much and I might try spraying peppermint on the problem areas.

Re: Fears and Phobias
I paradoxically have an aversion to needles, even though I used to give my Granny's diabetic cat insulin injections every night back when I was 15/16…
Re: Fears and Phobias
I just tend to get vertigo when I look from a height, and my legs give up. I don't have too much of an issue with needles, but they are uncomfortable (like when having a blood test).

Re: Fears and Phobias
I also have a phobia of dark bodies of water. We have a pond in our garden that's full of algae, and tadpoles at the appropriate time of year. I've come to realize I would probably never stick any part of my body in there, even though rationally I know it would just get dirty, nothing worse. I guess that's probably Rayman 2's fault, with all the bodies of liquid that Rayman can be insta-killed in…
Re: Fears and Phobias
I think we once had algae in our water cylinder somehow, however the hell it got in there.

Re: Fears and Phobias
I also used to have a similar kind of phobia, which I also attributed to Rayman 2! Though it was less of an actual phobia and more of a morbid curiosity of mine which would occasionally show up in my spooky dreams.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2020 1:32 am I also have a phobia of dark bodies of water. The only real phobia I've had is a fear of dogs that started when I got chased and bitten by one on the beach as a little kid. I'm happy to say I've long since lost that phobia though!
