Good to know I'm not the only one!

I also have an aversion to touching door handles with my bare hands. It started a few summers ago with a fear of getting ESD-zapped, but now I almost always use my sleeve. Unless I'm wearing short sleeves, in which case I usually bite the bullet. :P I do it on other things too, like shopping trolleys.

I used to have this weird one about germs. I still wash my hands of course, but I used to wash them every time I touched anything at one stage. I guess that trait would help now with the epidemic though. :P

It's kind of funny since it seemed weird, but now that's what they want everyone to do.

It's funny that people were also buying all the toilet roll, this makes it seem like nobody bought toilet roll or washed their hands before. :fou:

I was stockpiling toilet roll in advance of Brexit, until they extended the deadline and finally got their stuff together. It was really funny to see everyone else going as mad as I had been. :P

Ah a duplicate of a topic I bumped 2 years ago.

Anyways I’m not afraid bees and those likes I just find hornets and wasps nuisances along with roaches. I’m afraid of needles and heights. Loud noises and fire kinda scare me as well.

I actually always had this fear of the sound of popping balloons. It always catches me off-guard since unlike most people, I'm much more sensitive to sensations like sound and light so I always perceive the sound for instance as way louder than most people would.

I'm not too bothered by it today, but I used to be nervous about popping balloons myself bc I thought the wind pressure from it being released would hit me hard.

It's more just the fright you get if you're not expecting it.

Ah, that makes sense then. I wouldn't be too pleased about having a balloon pop next to my ear.

I'm pretty sure I used to be afraid of balloons for the same reason.

Yeah, for me it's actually partially because of that.

Speaking of “loud alarms” I remember the smoke alarm went off in my cousin’s house in the middle of the night one time, and it was definitely freaky. It started off small with little beeps while I was playing games and then started blaring so much that I had to jump on the dresser, and start attempting to knock it off the ceiling bc it was so loud. I was alone at the time too which made it that much worse.

The alarms are another one that will give me a fright if they go off unexpectedly of course, like those four smoke alarms that all go off at once here. I guess it's better to get a fright than to remain in a burning house until it's too late.
