Re: Rayman 2
Also PS2 runs at 30fps without a cheat, while DC runs at 60fps. Also most of the additions end up feeling like useless bloat. They restrict your abilities at the start to justify the need for an upgrade system that doesn’t exist in any other version.

Re: Rayman 2
Also how does the PS1 version have more votes than the N64 version? The PS1 version has less content.
Re: Rayman 2
At this stage, that wouldn't surprise me.The Jonster wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 4:22 am The game has not been saved

Re: Rayman 2
Ofc not its Revolution that does that after all!
I wouldn’t use that often here

Re: Rayman 2
Either way I'm playing the Dreamcast version in French. I thought it might help somewhat since I know the majority of the dialogue in English, so it might give me a rough idea.
Re: Rayman 2
It really was a silly idea, they could have easily had it autosave like Dreamcast.
Re: Rayman 2
The problem is not so much the prompt, but the frequency of it - after every single segment switch. PC version also doesn't autosave, but the prompt is presented only at the completion of a full level.
The nice thing about the PS2 method - it allows you to have a saving point for every segment in the game, which means you can replay individual sections any time you want, and even with all the original lums and bosses still there.
Even that has problems though - to have a save for every point in the game you need a large memory card (32MB), browsing such large cards really slows down the game when transitioning between levels, and navigating the saves is difficult, because they give no useful information as to the exact location when the save was taken.
All in all - more trouble than it's worth.

Re: Rayman 2
Rayman Revolution really reminds me of Croc 2 in terms of how they structured the hub world and how you got a shop where you could purchase various things and upgrades.
I wonder if they got influence from that game but its kinda unlikely because RR came 1 year and a half after that game.

Re: Rayman 2
What kind of ruins the upgrade system is that they just took a bunch of default moves from the other versions and abilities and made then unlockable. Now you have to unlock the ability to rapid fire and ricochet projectiles, unlike the other versions where you get that ability at the start.
Re: Rayman 2
I do have one of those 16MB memory cards, but the write speed is extremely slow on it. You can actually tell how it takes like three times longer for games to save.

8MB saves pretty fast from my expiriance
Though ps1 does save faster for me with a ps1 8MB

Re: Rayman 2
My 8MB ones are fine yeah, I guess it's just some cheap knock off one I have that saves slow. At least it works though I guess.

Re: Rayman 2
I noticed that in the French version they're also saying the Grolgoth can do everything except sing lullabies, how does that suddenly become the dishes?

Re: Rayman 2
I guess it's one of those idiomatic things that doesn't translate well. In fairness, Rayman 2 contained very few of those, whereas Rayman 3 had its share of puns and the like…

Re: Rayman 2
In german instead of lulabys its , he does everything besides the dishes
Re: Rayman 2
I'm guessing in that case. the translations went French > English > German. In some cases Rayman 3 must have been like Chinese whispers by the time it got translated into other languages.
Also, I was told that in the Spanish version of Rayman 3, Murfy never says "See you in Rayman 4!". That means that a lot of Spanish people likely never got the Rayman 4 meme that everyone went on about for over a decade.
