On the flip side, that means they were never lied to either!

Re: Rayman 2
They were also never lied to about the Land of the Livid Dead – in Spanish the name is different between R3 and Origins. I forget what the names are, but I remember coming across that in 2014/5 and being bemused.
Re: Rayman 2
I love the fact that "Livid Dead" in R3 is a pun around the relatively uncommon use of 'livid' as a color.
Re: Rayman 2
I remember I kept thinking it was "Living" Dead at one stage.

He also doesnt say it in germanSteo wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 7:53 pm I'm guessing in that case. the translations went French > English > German. In some cases Rayman 3 must have been like Chinese whispers by the time it got translated into other languages.
Also, I was told that in the Spanish version of Rayman 3, Murfy never says "See you in Rayman 4!". That means that a lot of Spanish people likely never got the Rayman 4 meme that everyone went on about for over a decade.![]()

Re: Rayman 2
Yeah in Rayman 3 the spanish name is "La Tierra de los Muertos Furiosos", which means: "The Land of the Furious Dead". In Rayman Origins the name is "Tierra de los No-tan-muertos", which translates to something like "Land of the Not-so-dead".
I didn't know that in the spanish version Murfy didn't mention Rayman 4, I always assumed that line was there. I must have heard about it either in a YouTube video or in a forum.

German thankfully keeps the name the same
A+ for consistancy

Re: Rayman 2
That's interesting then, I wonder if it's only in the French and English versions that he says it in that case. There actually were a lot of dubs for Rayman 3.

It's hardly "consistency" when the two levels are so radically different from each other though.StelzenBomber wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:37 pm German thankfully keeps the name the same

Re: Rayman 2
I did see before that Google Translate was calling it Moor, but I wasn't sure if that was just bad translation since lande seemed close to land. Well I guess they really messed this up then.

Re: Rayman 2
in russian its also different between rayman 3 (according to the wiki край/страна зловещих мертвецов, land/country of the sinister dead) and origins (simply земля покойников, land of the deceased), but not only that its also different between origins and legends (земля бледных мертвецов, land of the pale dead roughly) so thats wild
i get the change between r3 and origins since the different localization teams but. not origins and legends

Re: Rayman 2
I recently wrote this post which explains why I like the PlayStation version a lot more than Revolution; this might explain the poll results here.Gordswitch wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 4:24 am Also how does the PS1 version have more votes than the N64 version? The PS1 version has less content.
It's quite a clusterfuck of inconsistency, to say the least.PluMGMK wrote: Mon Aug 24, 2020 11:08 pm It's hardly "consistency" when the two levels are so radically different from each other though.Even in French, "lande" means "moor", not "land", so the French (i.e. original) name makes no sense in Origins/Legends.

Interesting, I don't think the wiki mentions it. Where does the name appear in Legends?ZelenPixel wrote: Tue Aug 25, 2020 12:02 am in russian its also different between rayman 3 (according to the wiki край/страна зловещих мертвецов, land/country of the sinister dead) and origins (simply земля покойников, land of the deceased), but not only that its also different between origins and legends (земля бледных мертвецов, land of the pale dead roughly) so thats wild

It's one of the worlds where the Challenges take place in Legends.

Neat, I'll look it up and update the wiki when I find the time.

Re: Rayman 2
I’m curious the exact reasons were behind why the PS1 port of Rayman 2 had to have so much content cut or altered, while the PC and Dreamcast version were near 1:1 ports of the original N64 version. Like what is it about the way the game is built and how Playstation Hardware functions that complicated the process.
Re: Rayman 2
Some people made the assumption that it was space limitations for the removal of levels, since they decided to add voice acting, which took up more space. I still don't really know though, they made a lot of strange changes, and even added Ninjaws.

Re: Rayman 2
My best guess is, the ps1 was too weak/some levels were too hard to implement+ they wanted it to feel different
Like the top of the world, i dont think many people like this level
And its gone
Though why most of the tomb of the anchients got cut is beond me
