Re: Rayman 2
Just because of the framerate i think that the N64 is kinda the worst version.
You want either a smooth 30/60 fps when playing a game.

Re: Rayman 2
Yeah some developers used the PS1’s hardware to its fullest. Squaresoft (now Square Enix) also did a good job with Final Fantasy VII/VIII/IX.[1]Gordswitch wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 3:58 am True. My guess is Ubisoft Shanghai weren’t very well versed in how Playstation Hardware worked, unlike teams like Naughty Dog and Insomniac.

The framerate on n64 is one of the worst framerates i have ever seen and it activly hinders/interupts gameplayZinx wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 8:59 am Just because of the framerate i think that the N64 is kinda the worst version.

Even worse on PAL
Re: Rayman 2
It's pretty bad alright, it's even worse when you set it to 480i with the expansion pack. Even in the Woods of Light, the game must be going about 10fps at some parts if even, and that's only a small level with not much going on.

Its only uaefull in speedruns because it is ridiculessly easy to cheese the game
Bur overall, n64 is terrible, unless emulated

Re: Rayman 2
Yeah the N64 never did have a good framerate, which is why I think it's odd that PS1 was less powerful and they managed to make the games run well with the limited hardware.

Guess that would explain why I never had problems with the N64 version since I have to emulate it.StelzenBomber wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:08 pm Its only uaefull in speedruns because it is ridiculessly easy to cheese the game

It's curious how different versions of the game seems to have its own flaws.
N64 - bad framerates, synthesized music
PS1 - cut content, awful english voice acting
PS2 - slowdowns (might be more stuff)
GBC - lots of cut content, disappointing final boss
DS - plain shit overall
iOS - clunky control depending on phone size and hand
3DS - a glitch in Tomb of the Ancients

Well ps2 aslso has a mediocer overworld and powerups/live ups are dumb and level changes
Gbc shouldnt even count
Ds i wouldnt call plain shit, just...the worst version
Ios idk
3ds also has a few other small glitches, its a lot easyer and fps issues which i never saw compared to ps2/n64
Re: Rayman 2
I like how Dreamcast and PC aren't in that list.
As for PS2, it has some interesting exclusive content that makes it different than the rest, but it kind of makes so many changes that you're essentially playing an entirely different game, and not everyone likes that. Personally, not only do I like how Dreamcast and PC play the game at 60fps, but I just prefer to play the original game. I'm not too bothered between Hall/Isle of Doors personally, I like both, but I kind of prefer Isle personally, since Dreamcast is the version I like the most. I do admit the framerate is part of what puts me off since I like a consistent framerate (even if it was a consistent 30), but I just really like how Dreamcast manages to run the game so smoothly for such old hardware.
Revolution can probably be somewhat viewed like Redemption in regards to content, it has some cool stuff and it's different, but some people might still prefer the original without changes.

Re: Rayman 2
That's cuz so far I haven't anything wrong with either of those two versions! I hope it stays that way cuz those are my 2 preferred versions.
I agree about Revolution though, there are so many changes that it feels like a different game to me. Some choices were great, others weren't.
You're right that GBC shouldn't count, I just took the choices from the poll.StelzenBomber wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:23 pm Ds i wouldnt call plain shit, just...the worst version
Yeah that's why i called DS crap, bc it's the worst version imo.StelzenBomber wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:23 pm Ds i wouldnt call plain shit, just...the worst version
And about the iOS version, I used to have a phone that actually had the app, and I think bc of my hands being bigger than the small size of the phone, it was somewhat difficult for me to really play the game. I was stuck on Stone and Fire for awhile bc of it.
Re: Rayman 2
I tried to play Rayman DS and I only managed to get to the Fairy Glade before I didn't want to play anymore.

Re: Rayman 2
A miracle indeed how i managed to finish Rayman DS once!
I copied the completed save file to the others so I wouldn't ever have to play again, it was just bad.

Re: Rayman 2
To me it's like a worse version of the Nintendo 64 version. Plus they could have done something else with the touch screen other than using it as what I feel is a useless way to control Rayman.

I should get a physical copy of the N64 version at some point just so I can experience how bad the framerates really are.

Is that better than the NTSC version? Bc I'm pretty sure I live in that region.
