Re: Rayman 2
Does the PAL N64 version run better with an expansion pack than the NTSC version?

Re: Rayman 2
It doesnt
And never can
Pal could never get to 60fps
50 at best
Even then
Ntsc strugles at 15 ish
While pal dips below 10 a lot

Re: Rayman 2
I've only ever played the PC version. I remember trying to buy the PS1 version on eBay once (with the intent of emulating it) but it never showed up.

This was your 30,000th post!Steo wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:24 pm I like how Dreamcast and PC aren't in that list.
As for PS2, it has some interesting exclusive content that makes it different than the rest, but it kind of makes so many changes that you're essentially playing an entirely different game, and not everyone likes that. Personally, not only do I like how Dreamcast and PC play the game at 60fps, but I just prefer to play the original game. I'm not too bothered between Hall/Isle of Doors personally, I like both, but I kind of prefer Isle personally, since Dreamcast is the version I like the most. I do admit the framerate is part of what puts me off since I like a consistent framerate (even if it was a consistent 30), but I just really like how Dreamcast manages to run the game so smoothly for such old hardware.
Revolution can probably be somewhat viewed like Redemption in regards to content, it has some cool stuff and it's different, but some people might still prefer the original without changes.

I noticed my post count was 29,999, so I tried to make the 30,000th one informative so I'll remember it.PluMGMK wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 7:41 pm I've only ever played the PC version. I remember trying to buy the PS1 version on eBay once (with the intent of emulating it) but it never showed up.

Also, that's really weird, I wonder what happened to it since it never showed up...

When I said the worst I meant for home consoles lol forgot about the DS version. The Jonster wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:17 pmGuess that would explain why I never had problems with the N64 version since I have to emulate it.StelzenBomber wrote: Fri Aug 28, 2020 6:08 pm Its only uaefull in speedruns because it is ridiculessly easy to cheese the game
Bur overall, n64 is terrible, unless emulated
It's curious how different versions of the game seems to have its own flaws.
N64 - bad framerates, synthesized music
PS1 - cut content, awful english voice acting
PS2 - slowdowns (might be more stuff)
GBC - lots of cut content, disappointing final boss
DS - plain shit overall
iOS - clunky control depending on phone size and hand
3DS - a glitch in Tomb of the Ancients
They should have done something like the Raving Rabbids DS game and transform the game into a 2.5D sidescroller lol.
Re: Rayman 2
Sorry for the double post but good news for people that wanna emulate Rayman Revolution.
PCSX2 fixed some bugs and made the emulation of the game more accurate to the hardware.
You need to wait for the PR to be merged but for more info you can read about it here : https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3593

i saw this recently, I think it is pretty cool. I wonder what are those "new things" that the creator found.

Re: Rayman 2
I don't understand, who's that guy and what's he doing?
Re: Rayman 2
Last week I purchased a secondhand copy of Rayman 3D and I was pleasantly surprised! I've just cleared the final boss and I can honestly say this was one of my favourite versions of the game. When I heard that it was the Dreamcast version but with the extra content removed and a glitchy Tomb of the Ancients, I thought it was going to be pretty mediocre.
Instead, I found Rayman a treat to control with the 3DS thumbstick, and really appreciated the new touches (brighter environments, the return of Uglette's bow, and better use of the soundtrack in the Prison Ship come to mind). I'm actually very tempted to go back and 100% it at some point, which is something I haven't done before.

Re: Rayman 2
If you try to 100% it, you will definitely come up against that glitch in the Tomb of the Ancients!
Otherwise, it's good to hear you enjoyed it!
Re: Rayman 2
Don't worry, I've already taken care of the 1000th lum!
It's such a strange glitch though. It almost felt like the game didn't want me to have it anymore...

Re: Rayman 2
I had to just damage boost off the spider, and apparently it's so broken that the acid doesn't even kill you if you jump onto the platforms without raising them.
Re: Rayman 2
Yeah, that's what I did too. Then I looked it up on the wiki and discovered that was the known work around. I'm not sure what's weirder, the broken trampoline, or the game soft locking after collecting the lum. I'm sure it's just a bunch of glitches, but it does almost seem like a half-hearted attempt to make it intentionally innacessable.
Re: Rayman 2
Yeah it's weird how the entire room is broken. Sometimes it doesn't softlock if you jump into the hole in a certain way, but most times it does.
Re: Rayman 2
Changing topic a little bit, but does anyone know if these textures are used anywhere in the game?

I know that the gloves were used for the PS1 antitoons, but the shoe design and filenames seem to imply Electoons were intended for Rayman 2 at some point. Fascinating if true!
