I guess is not impossible for him to come back after a few years, only time will tell.

I wasn't expecting that. I'm happy for him that he pursues his new passion (I love animals too) but at the same time him leaving the game industry came as such a shock and I feel abandoned, even though I do know that's not the intent. Brb gonna cry for a week.

You know, I'm usually not into this kind of humor, but...
We thought no official thing would happen for Rayman's 25th birthday, but it turns out something DID happen.
Rayman's creator leaved video games industry.

Re: Michel Ancel decided to stop making video games
The far-left trade union 'Solidaires' published a statement according to which Michel Ancel's departure from Ubisoft (and the industry) is due to his 'doings' in the company: https://twitter.com/SolInfoJeuVideo/sta ... 9306449922
There is however no telling of what he could possibly be accused of and most commenters seem to express doubt at this accusation.

I wish I kept trying to learn French. No specifics on what he's being accused for you say? That doesn't sound suspicious and hatemongery at all.

Re: Michel Ancel decided to stop making video games
I don't speak French either but here is a machine translation:
Michael Ancel
Good Wind!
We all know what the departure of Michel Ancel
has nothing to do with a sudden interest in nature.
Mr Rayman's actions have benefited for years from a
a wide impunity granted by the management of Ubisoft.
Mr Guillemot recently personally defended himself :
"Michel Ancel has a status equivalent to other stars of the middle, that he is very
it is difficult to change, so it is up to the staff representatives as well as the
Human resources to find ways to protect people who
work with him.
This impunity is also
responsible for toxic culture within the group.
Justice Be Done
The departure of Mr Ancel does not wash away the Ubisoft group from its responsibilities.
The latter must be able to answer for his actions in court.
On this occasion, we recall the collective legal action
led by our Syndicat Solidaires Informatique
against the Ubisoft group.
We invite the victims of the actions of the Ubisoft group,
to contact us to build this joint action.

The Syndicat Solidaires Informatique announces work
on a class action lawsuit
against the Ubisoft group.
Repeated acts of sexual harassment and assault,
and discrimination, as well as the impunity of the group
course many years have to get explanations and repairs.
The dismissal of some personalities like Serge is a
insufficient measure, because under their leadership are hiding those who have
happily profited.
As the many testimonies that have come out these weeks show, it is
all the sexist, homophobic and racist culture that we must destroy in all
the video game and computer industry.
Impunity must end
Justice must be done !
These are not isolated cases and failures of the resources department
Human rights, when there does seem to be a corporate policy that
values its benefits before the health and safety of its employees.
Let us remember the words of the former HRD Mrs. Cornet
"Yves [Guillemot] is OK with toxic management,
as long as the results of these managers their level of toxicity"
The Ubisoft group must be able to answer for its actions
in court.
We invite the victims of the actions of the Ubisoft group, the
associations and any organization wishing to help,
to contact us to build this joint action.
The defense of this action will be entrusted to Maire Maude Beckers,
lawyer specializing in employment and discrimination law,
and supported by Solidaires Informatique.
We guarantee total confidentiality and legal support.
It is not necessary to be a union member to be protected.
Nor to be rich to assert his rights.

Yep. Not suspicious at all.
Until proven guilty of whatever these supposed charges are, I'm just gonna wish him the best of luck with his wildlife adventures.

Yeah, I can confirm that it's a pretty vague statement with no specifics, let alone any proof. Wait and see is all we can do!

Re: Michel Ancel decided to stop making video games
I read the first page, and I don't even want to bother translating it, or checking how good the machine translation is.
Wasn't there some nefarious thing involving Serge Hascoët recently? This sounds like people trying to sow chaos based on that, rather than people who actually know anything.

I have not been up to date with everything that has happened with Ubisoft in recent months, but I rather wait for something more concrete.
