My deepest condolences.Steo wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:55 am I just heard news that my Great Grandmother passed away. Just as I say I hope things will get better for everyone...
Rest in peace, I'll never forget the memories we had.

Thanks guys. It turns out it was COVID-19 that killed her in the end, they originally thought she had a chest infection.
I really hope this is the end of bad things for everyone finally, I didn't think 2021 could be worse than 2020, but this isn't a good start at all.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Oh no, that's terrible! I'm so sorry to hear that!
Man, we're really being overrun with it this time around.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
They thought she had a chest infection, a misdiagnosis, but she was probably too old for them to be able to do anything, even had they known in time. At this stage, the cases are rising, and the death toll in Ireland is even double figures daily now...PluMGMK wrote: Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:46 pm Oh no, that's terrible! As the others have said before, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. My condolences.

Let me summarize my thoughts on the situation too.
At first, I was skeptical about this whole COVID-19 thing and I thought it was just bullshit made up by someone just for attention, but seeing how serious it is, my claims are definitely untrue.
I’m especially tired of smartasses who don’t wear masks (or do wear them but don’t cover their noses) or practice hygiene habits. They’re basically asking for it!
Sure, you may think you’re the king of the world by not respecting rules, but it will backfire.
I’m also sick of people who decline to get a nasopharyngeal swab sample taken, thinking they’ll get a so-called “chip” in their nose. Bullshit! It’s just a sterile nylon swab, there’s nothing else. Nothing new gets into your body at all.
The swab is just used to take a sample from your nasopharynx (or maybe even the throat in case of a PCR test, at least that’s what they do here in Slovakia as far as I know). It just gets shoved in so far because that’s the best area for the virus to hide in.
Sure, it’s pretty uncomfortable, but I’ve had it done twice already without any major discomfort at all. It’s not that bad! Learn to deal with it, folks. If you can get a needle into your vein, you should be able to stand a swab in the back of your nose.
I’m not surprised some of the idiots with positive tests who refuse to follow rules set by the government are in quarantine.
The pandemic would’ve been long over if people weren’t—I apologize for the language—dicks!

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I actually agree. As bad as the whole pandemic is, these people really do make it worse by not doing something as simple as wearing a mask. It's annoying having to wear one of course, but if everyone followed the most basic rules, we'd have gotten out of this entire situation many months ago.
It just gets worse every day, and they can introduce all the restrictions they want, remove deals on alcohol, etc. At the end of the day, it's not stopping the issue at hand.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
So Fifo doesn't believe that covid swabs are used to implant chips that give Bill Gates and the other reptilians full control over your brain? That's obviously because he's already their mind slave.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Yeah, once you get the swab and boot your computer into Windows, it can read your mind. This means Bill Gates can sell your information.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Nice one, but I’m not falling for it.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
It's always nice to joke about and make light of a bad situation at least.

It's a pity that so many people believe that stuff though.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
Why on earth would they stick a PCB into your nose and start spying on you.

Indeed, the 21st century will be remembered for how conspiracy theories blunted Occam's razor.

I thought the 20th century had similar theories, but way fewer people heard about them because there were no social media?

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I agree, social media makes it very easy for people to find others who share their views, however few they are, and people now feel empowered to say things they would otherwise have kept to themselves for fear (and a justified one!) of sounding like idiots.
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
This makes a lot of sense yeah, and it explains why people are more easily offended these days too. It's not even the fact that they're more offended, it's just that people are saying these things to a bigger audience, and it spreads fast if it's something they dislike, unlike back in the day when nobody even had internet.
As for COVID, I guess I'll just end up getting the vaccine when it's available. I was thinking I won't need it, but it's the fact that I don't want to contract the virus and then pass it onto others. The only problem is we don't know what the side effects of it will be.

Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I'm no fan of needles, but I'm so weary of this that I'll be very eager to get this particular vaccine (as I voted in the poll we had on it while ago).
Re: Something Bothering you?/Daily Doldrums
I voted the same thing, but now I'm not sure. Needles aren't nice of course, but it all depends as to whether I can stay away from others once people start getting the vaccine. Once the virus is finally gone, it will be nice. It's been ongoing for so long at this stage.
