Re: The You Game!
Ah calculus...one of the few subjects that plagued < in college. Maybe bc < was such a slacker student in the beginning but < had to retake cal 2 twice, which was strange given how < usually is good at math.
Re: The You Game!
< was really interested in maths at a younger age, but then when the alphabet came into it and it started to be about things that < would never use, <'s mind just went blank.

Re: The You Game!
< would argue that the "maths without the alphabet" you liked were barely maths, just calculations.
Re: The You Game!
Then < only likes calculations and numbers.
That being said though, it's not that < didn't find it interesting, < actually liked maths. < just kind of lost interest in school in general by that stage, and < always just had this idea that < was never going to need to use certain things that < was being taught, so < didn't really study them very much. That, along with wanting to do about a million things at once and just being sidetracked.
< does remember all this stuff about about triangles that we had to learn though, since we had to stay on that subject for weeks.

Re: The You Game!
Trigonometry? Yeah, that can get really boring…
< just heard that Switzerland's parliament voted to, ahem, ban face coverings in public.

Damn, < hasn’t seen that huge boon emote in a LONG time!
Also, your sig just creeped me out with those eyes appearing out of nowhere.

Re: The You Game!
That reminds < of a conversation in late 2017 in which < agreed with a Mathematical Modelling lecturer that arithmetic isn't really mathematics.Hunchman801 wrote: Fri Mar 05, 2021 10:32 am < would argue that the "maths without the alphabet" you liked were barely maths, just calculations.![]()
< is surprised that's still happening to an old-timer like you! Or do you mean the version R4Y made?Fifo wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 9:06 pm Also, your sig just creeped me out with those eyes appearing out of nowhere.![]()

Re: The You Game!
Ah yes, the original! < made that waaaaaaay back in 2014 and has been using it on-and-off ever since.
Re: The You Game!
At least < knows now that Opera supports animated PNGs.
EDIT: < just saw eyes pop up on the Dora sig and that is even more creepy!

Re: The You Game!
< wonders how long the Blink engine has supported them without needing plugins…
EDIT in reply to ^'s sneaky "EDIT": Ah yes, R4Y made sure to keep that theme alive. That one's a plain old GIF though!

Re: The You Game!
< has been trying to figure out if it's possible to build a newer version of LineageOS for older devices running old insecure operating systems. < is sure it would be possible, just likely extremely annoying trying to work out all the bugs.

Re: The You Game!
< hasn't spoken with Fifo in quite awhile. < wonders how ^^^ is doing? Enjoying life, < hopes?
Re: The You Game!
<’s doing okay, thanks for asking.
Re: The You Game!
< is glad to hear ^ is doing ok also. < has realised lately how phone manufacturers are basically scammers, since they stop releasing updates after two years to try force people to buy a newer model.

Re: The You Game!
< is glad ^^ and ^^^ are doing well.
Regarding phones and planned obsolescence… tbh < got themself way more worked up a few years ago about a conspiracy theory < had about clothing cartels. Basically, it suddenly became impossible to get a decent jacket that would come down any further than your waist. When we asked the guy in one clothes shop, he said it was because "people wanted to wear them in their cars", which was likely BS. < reckoned it was more likely that the designers had carved up the market to force people to buy thick trousers – the exact type of trousers escapes me, but not the jeans < always wears anyway! To add insult to injury, < did once forget to take <'s jacket off in the car when driving <'s parents around on New Year's Day in 2018, and had the heating going for their sake, so < actually ended up a bit dehydrated.
That wouldn't have happened if < had had a proper jacket, and not one that could be "worn in cars".
Wow, that rant resurfaced out of nowhere
Especially since < just wears pyjamas all the time now

Re: The You Game!
< would usually expect cars to be warm enough to not need jackets, but them maybe in the winter it makes sense, still nothing the heater can't sort out though. Speaking of clothing, < has noticed that tracksuit trousers seem very tight around the ankles lately compared to what < is used to.

Re: The You Game!
< thinks it's actually a pretty good thing! Religious fundamentalism is rampant in Europe, and so is the refusal to integrate into the culture and society of the home country. This leads to self-imposed exclusion, which has devastating socio-economic consequences on the affected populations, and eventually this mix of poverty and exclusion leads to higher-than-ever crime rates and is also fertile ground for terrorism, which has cost the lives of hundreds of people in Europe since 2015. In the long term, we're not doing anyone a favor by catering to such demands.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Mar 07, 2021 7:07 pm < just heard that Switzerland's parliament voted to, ahem, ban face coverings in public.
< would also comment on the security problems of having masked people walk the streets, but with the coronavirus outbreak, < feels it's not the biggest problem right now.

Re: The You Game!
< was just really amused that most governments have been introducing laws to make people wear face coverings in public!
