Neither am I, though I’ve started to use them to pop acne zits myself.

It's a lot worse when you have to get them as anesthetic. I'll never forget that day I had such a bad ingrown toenail that I needed surgery, and the doctor was like "now, I'm just going to give you the anesthetic in 5 places". It was bad enough to hear that, but holy crap those were painful. It was like he was sticking the needle into my toe and bending it around in circles. :beurk:

Compared to that, a vaccine or blood test is nothing.

Ah yes, the same thing happened to me once. I'd actually forgotten about it!

The funniest thing about that experience was that they prescribed painkillers and I was like, I'm grand, and then halfway towards the next town on the journey home, the feeling started to come back. It was all I could do to wait until we got to the pharmacy in the next town!

That's what it was like in my case, but they made me get collected from there in order to discharge me, so I had to get a taxi. On the drive home, it started feeling like someone hit me in the foot with a hammer.

I have no fear of needles at all, but I must admit that I still remember the day when I ended up in the ER after basically cutting off an entire chunk of flesh off the side of my thumb, which would have fallen off were it not for a tiny patch of skin, and the doctor had to inject the anesthetic right in the wound before stitching it up. Thankfully, I still have a full thumb to this day.

I did get stitched up without an anesthetic once, though it was on my wrist and it didn't hurt much. Still, I was kinda surprised that night. :confus:

I don't remember ever needing stitches, but I do remember that toenail started going ingrown again while it was growing back, so while having a few beers one night, I steeped it in antiseptic for ages, then performed the operation myself with a metal nail file and nail clippers. It sounds like it wasn't that bad, except I actually had to dig it far into my nail bed just to dig out the separated section, so it was really painful. It was worth it though, much better than letring it get that bad again and having to get the whole thing nail cut off again.

I even remember the doctor joking that I should just get the toe chopped off since it's causing me so many problems.

Why would you not let the doctor do the whole thing though? :paranormal:

I'd have been waiting almost a year again, and removing the entire nail didn't even work since it started happening again.

Oh yeah it's amazing, just like waiting over a year for an endoscopy, and I'll be waiting over a year again I bet. :P

Needles don't really bother me anymore either, I used to get them on my buttcheeks every other month and I've had them in my mouth and all that so I'm more than happy to take the covid vaccine when I can. I've been informed as well that all my grandparents got theirs which I'm really glad to hear. Meanwhile I feel like I've been nothing more than a bystander on my fiancé's problems especially now that one of his aunts (in 50s, had multiple disabilities) is in palliative care with corona. Apparently just being there to listen is enough?

I've had them many times for blood tests, and I've had them in my mouth too at the dentists for fillings and extractions. For some reason, the one I had to get in 5 places that day for my ingrown toenail was extremely painful, maybe it's just the place I had to get them in. Normally I'm just used to feeling a pinch when they insert the needle, and again when they remove it, but some people who do blood tests still manage to mess them up and leave you with a bruised sore arm. Sorry to hear about their aunt also, it's unfortunate news...

Thank you. Sadly his relative passed away and while I'd rather not go into more detail it was a peaceful passing, the doctors at the hospital she was in were fantastic, and she's no longer suffering.

On the same sort of line the news this week was...ugh. So Captain Tom, an 100 year old bloke who raised millions for the NHS by walking around in his garden, passed away in the week as well from corona and it's made me wince even more at the idea of getting the public to "clap for him/the NHS". Earlier in the year every Thursday at 8pm a good chunk of the neighbourhood banged on pans and beeped cars as well as clapping, and I just think it all shied away from the fact that the NHS is still struggling to keep up; it had been long before the pandemic began.

Small thing I've been bottling up for a while.

Last year I befriended a bunch of people in a Discord server I joined and everything was perfectly fine. I and few people had trouble with a very toxic individual who started to accuse us of things we never committed just to cause us trouble and during that period I was invited to a "friend"'s server, where I befriended other new people. I put quotes on the term friend because I never considered said person as such, just a mere acquaintance I later ditched for the following reasons I'm going to list.

The server was strictly focused on arts, softwares, advices and especially vent and there a person started to show an immediate interest for my artwork. Innocent at first, their manner towards me put me off as they acted like a sort of simp and even dared to call me "cute names" without asking me if I was comfortable with that, even during a correction they made because I said something they strongly disagreed with. The person also dared to copy a drawing of mine for a "gift" for me.
Besides that, they were generically a very angry person to deal with in the server; if you said something they didn't like, including venting in specific context, they would put the blame on the person to a point of traumatising it. Despite people contacted my "friend", being the owner of the server, to warn about this individual, nothing was done against them. Also, I forgot to say this person was a moderator.
After leaving their server at some point and contacting this troubled person for unrelated matters, they blocked me with the fear that "I was going to do sinister things to them" out of nowhere, blaming me and acting like a victim.

Few months later I got news that a drama in that server happened shortly after I left, where my "friend" and their angry friend were involved and I was told negative things about the latter. For that I ditched this "friend" due to associations (besides some red flags I noticed in their behaviour like using me to vent about things from the past, noticing that I was still friend with their former friend and sharing a pirated software I never asked).

Just not too long ago this troubled person got outed as a pedophile and rapist (with given proofs) and I and a group of trusted people were shocked. When I tried to contact the "friend" about that person they took their defences instead of taking distances and accused me of being naive about real problems and that "they were also a victim of misinformation" and telling me that "I disappointed them", blocking me and making some mockery post about our situation. Who the fuck does anyone tell you that you disappointed them for simply warning about a predator being their friend?!
Shortly after I was contacted by their former friends who told me their side of the story and, to make things short, I was acquainted with manipulative abusers who literally started a witch hunt against their former friends out of spite, causing 4 people to become suicidal.

I admit I'm still beyond furious and digusted for all this, being called names because I didn't bend a knee in front of this person, plus they never cared about anyone but themselves ("I'm the victim here, others are meanies to meeee!") and even demanded gift pics from others during their depression. In retrospect I'm glad I met them so I know how fucked up they are and I ditched from them in time.
