Re: The You Game!
This is fair, not everyone drinks anyway. < thinks it should be best to keep it to a stage where you can actually enjoy it rather than it being a problem.

Just reading this makes me shudderHunchman801 wrote: Mon May 10, 2021 12:58 pm < hopes it wasn't good whisky, else it's a shame to drink it as a shot.![]()
I think drinking games have devastated my ability to appreciate spirits...
Re: The You Game!
< recalls there being a mention of Rayman fans playing Rayman 1, where they had to take a shot each time they died in the game.

< can imagine the ensuing exponential growth of frustration, but no doubt accompanied by hoots of laughter
<'s phone died today for no reason. < is hoping it's the battery, since < went and ordered a replacement for that, even though it seems to be reading the correct voltage

Re: The You Game!
< was only thinking about how <'s phone is about 3 years old at this point, but then < realised that it shouldn't be an issue considering it's working and does what < wants. < only has it just under two years, just that it's a 3 year old model.
< hopes it isn't the PCB in ^'s case…

Re: The You Game!
Yeah, < has a FairPhone 2, and the symptoms sound like the battery's "deep discharged", but that makes no sense since it just stopped working in the middle of the day, with plenty of charge left. In that case, the LED's supposed to blink red when you plug it in, after leaving the battery out to "cool down" for >30 minutes (which < is pretty sure < did). Instead, the LED blinks red when < plugs it in with no battery, but it's completely dead when the battery's in. That's why < is somewhat hopeful that a new battery will fix it.
Re: The You Game!
Ouch, <'s sorry ^'s experiencing those kinds of difficulties. Also, what ^ said about the fact that ^'s phone stops working in the middle of the day reminded < of one of <'s shitty tablets which died on < at only 60% charge, sometimes even more than that (we sold it though ofc haha).
Re: The You Game!
< has had this happen with a spare Galaxy S7 Edge, where one day it just turned off and never worked again. < never bothered to order anything to try fix it since it's just a spare one, and the glass is cracked. <'s Note 9 is still fine and still holds a charge pretty well, only issue is that < will have to be sure to build Lineage every so often for it to avoid running a really old security patch.

Re: The You Game!
<'s new battery arrived today at lunchtime, but predictibly didn't make any difference. So now < has two good batteries but zero good phones to put them in.
< and Dad will try to take the whole thing apart tomorrow and see if there's any obvious damage.
Re: The You Game!
<’s sorry to hear of ^’s misfortune
Re: The You Game!
That really sucks for ^^. At worst < would expect a new circuit board to fix it, at the loss of anything that wasn't backed up, but < wonders what happened to the current one, and whether it can be repaired somehow.
Re: The You Game!
Yeah <'s sorry for ^^^ too, that sucks to hear.

Re: The You Game!
< thanks you guys for your sympathy.
Indeed, < now considers eMMC to be one of the worst inventions ever. "Hey, let's encourage people to leave all their data on this little BGA that becomes inaccessible if anything happens to the motherboard!"
< shall be using a MicroSD card with their next phone for sure!
< was thinking of getting a Librem 5 for a (complete!) change, but apparently they're out of stock until October. So Fairphone 3 it is, may it last longer than its predecessor!

This is exactly why < thinks it's stupid that they try force people not to use SD cards in iPhones and other models.PluMGMK wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 7:51 pm < shall be using a MicroSD card with their next phone for sure!

Re: The You Game!
< got their new phone today!
< inserted a MicroSD card that < found lying around, which has 16 GB storage… whereas the phone's eMMC has 64 GB
< should probably get a bigger MicroSD card at some point.

< wonders how difficult would be to implement a Ting bank in the users' accounts, so you don't have to create a separate account to store your Tings.

Re: The You Game!
< guesses it wouldn't be that difficult, but where's the fun in that?
Re: The You Game!
< supposes people could just be generous and give them all away instead.
