New Rayman RR mobile discovery!

Post by Chilistudios »

Ok, I was on YouTube minding my own business, and I stumbled across this video.
The build in this video has the pig riding segments and a bunch of other stuff thought to be scrapped from the mobile version. This is huge news.

Ah, right. I suppose I forgot to post about this on RPC. I found out about this back in February, when I went through the trouble of adding all versions of RRR Mobile and Rayman Kart to Ray1map. There's a lot of different versions, and of all the ones I've seen, that 208x208 version is definitely the best one. If I'd ever be forced to play this game I would definitely go for that version.

Here's level 1 in a few different versions, as an example of how different these can be:

High-res version, static background: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Mid-res version, static background: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Mid-res version, scrolling background, expanded (this is the 208x208 version): https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Low-res version, scrolling background: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Low-res version, static background: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Low-res version, static background, smaller level: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0
Lowest-res version, completely different: https://raym.app/maps_r1/index.html?mod ... ld=0&lvl=0

Of course there's a lot more versions and differences than this. Including additional levels, pig riding, flying fish, pirate rabbids and more... (As a result I ended up wasting a lot of time on this :p)

By the way, go to 20:55 in that video to see the very worst thing in any Rayman game ever made:

Yes, in RRR Mobile, Rayman will mercilessly blow up rabbids, rip out their spine and grab it to use it as a balloon. What the fuck, Rayman?! No wonder the rabbids wanted to ruin his life (and franchise).

It's surprising how many people overlooked the lower res versions of this mobile game.

Droolie wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2011 11:27 pm Well, here's the first part of my discoveries: the sounds. I uploaded the whole sound pack from RRR here (so not only the prototype stuff).
RRR - SFX 1: http://www.multiupload.com/MZAYJRRCUP
RRR - SFX 2: http://www.multiupload.com/2KR0OPSQDQ
Ambients and leftovers from other songs are in RRR - SFX 1.rar, while the eagle stuff (among other very interesting things) is in RRR - SFX 2.rar.
All the files have their original filenames so if they contain any interesting information about the prototype, consider it officially confirmed. ;)

The prototype placeholder music will follow later this evening. I only have to copy it to a separate directory, convert it all to mp3 and upload. ;)
EDIT -> Nevermind, I'll upload it tomorrow evening. Gotta get some sleep now. :/
@Droolie , I would be so glad if you will share the SFX files with me (refresh the links or share on Dm), thanks in advance.

And guys, if you have archives with SFX Files please share with me I we'll be pleased, thanks in advance again. 😉

I had no idea there were so many different versions of this game! That's probably not gonna make me want to play it anyway, but it's really interesting regardless. It's true that the wiki article for the game could do with some more information about its levels, something that would require covering most if not all versions. That's probably a great amount of work, but hopefully we'll get there one day!

As for that weird attack that Rayman performs on Rabbids, I'm not sure if that's actually supposed to be their spine (looks more like sparkles to me), but if it is, then it probably beats impaling the giant Rabbid from Ginger-Bunny-Bread in terms of violence.
