Hmm, that might be why actually now that < thinks about it haha. < does like the language though. :)

Also, congrats Fifo, that's great to hear! :D

< congratulates ^ on ^'s second shot. :D

If there's ever languages that < personally wants to learn in the future, < wants to learn both Japanese and <'s dad's native tongue (< forgot what it was called). < thinks it's probably easier to speak/hear most other languages first. It would be more of a challenge writing them on paper especially if the letters/numbers have different symbols.

Aaron wrote: Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:27 am Speaking of languages, <'s (which is Hungarian) has to be one of the most difficult languages, if not the most difficult to learn for foreigners haha. It has a lot of special grammar rules no other language has, diacritics and so on. < thinks it's a beautiful language though. :)
< thinks it depends on the mother tongue of the person learning it. For example, Estonians and Finns will probably find it much easier than, well, pretty much everyone else in the world, given the amount of speakers for the rest of the Uralic languages. :P

Great news Fifo! < isn't getting a second shot, since < had COVID last year.

< has never mastered the rules for counting in Irish. Presumably they're intuitive if you grow up using them, but they just don't make much sense if you're trying to learn them in school. Which is bad, since the number of native speakers is declining alarmingly :confus:

< is pondering whether Rabbids or RegExes are more sanity-sapping :hap:
< is pleased by the alliteration in that thought :hap:

< is having a look at RTX 30 laptops. < will definitely buy one later on so < has to search for information on the wattage of the GPUs since manufacturers might have set a different one for each model, and the higher the wattage is the better the GPU's potential will be exploited.

Also, < noticed the mobile RTX 30 processors are not classified as Max-Q. :mefiant:

< would still consider getting a decent laptop at some point too, although < might not need it that much, it's still something that would be nice to have for portability if < wants to work on something. The way they state the specs is annoying though, almost like they don't want to tell you what type of GPU it has at all. :mefiant:

< mainly hates the track pad on <'s current laptop, and the bad colours on the screen compared to <'s PC. < would mainly use the PC anyway, but then maybe having a better laptop would make < consider using it more often. Then again, the CPU in <'s current one isn't too bad, it's just some other things.

< got Windows 3.1 running natively on <'s Core i7 machine from 2014 tonight :teuf: (albeit in Standard Mode – crashes in Enhanced Mode :mefiant:)

< thinks back to how they laughed at us in 2006 for considering doing the same thing on a machine from 2004 :hap:

The only time < wanted to get something like this to work really was when < wanted to try Rayman Mini, but then < doesn't have much experience with Mac OS anyway so it would have been interesting to experiment with. < isn't sure if it's really worth the effort unless it was being done on a spare laptop at this stage though. < just remembers there being no drivers the last time < tried making a Hackintosh.

<'s on <'s way to watch a performance of the St Matthew Passion tonight, one of <'s all time favourite pieces of music.
< has half a tab of acid in the house somewhere and was half tempted to take it... That would be quite the transcendental experience! But also probably quite a bad idea, seeing as < will be stuck in the same room for 2 and a half hours :oops2:

< thinks it may indeed be hard to stay in place for such a long time after taking half a tab... but what about a quarter, then? :hap:

< also decided against it because < had planned a magic mushroom trip with some mates the next day and has heard psilocybin/acid takes a while to desensitise to, < didn't want to ruin the experience.
Also the concert was moved to another venue, a large open cathedral, so the acoustics weren't that great... But < still thoroughly enjoyed it and the cathedral really added to the atmosphere. Lots of lovely dramatic stained glass windows!
Also the shroom trip was lovely, mostly walking around <'s garden poking frogs and looking at flowers.

< is somehow reminded of the "Golden Hammer" xkcd comic by the above discussion, even though that only involved vodka, not shrooms :hap:

< was told by a Dublin-based colleague that the vaccine rollout was terribly late in Ireland. Glad to learn that things are finally moving on.

< says it would be a terrible thing to have due to its single-threaded nature (well, excluding workers and other specific situations). Use asynchronous code instead and make full use of the event loop!
