Sixteenth edition of the posts in a day record

Post by PluMGMK »

Hi everybody! :hap: Pirate-Community is organizing its sixteenth edition of the posts in a day record. For those who aren't familiar with the rules, this is how it works:
Hunchman801 wrote: Tue Jun 16, 2009 8:20 pm Each year since 2006, we organise a posts in a day record at PC. The whole thing is quite simple: it consists in posting the most possible messages in a predetermined time span of 24 hours. The goal is not only to break a new record every year or bring more activity to the forums, but also to shuffle our topics in order to bring new discussions for the following year.

This is not a spam contest, and useless messages are obviously not welcome. However, the special conditions during the record day will be the cause of a certain leniency, especially as concerns old topics, which can be bumped freely.
The current record stands at an insane 32252 posts. Can we do better this year? That's up to you!

The rewards rise to the occasion: each post is worth 15 Tings within the given time span, and then come the bonus Tings: 1500 for participating, 1500 for beating one's previous posts in a day record, and 3000 Tings for the winner. For example, some time ago someone earned the incredible amount of 84690 Tings that day.

As usual, we're planning on having it on a Saturday during the summer, more specifically from 21:00 UTC on the Friday night to 21:00 UTC the following day (yes, time zones are confusing :P). I'm thinking some weekend in July or August – anyone else have specific thoughts?

I should be available to participate, but I doubt I'd be doing an all-nighter this time. I somehow managed to do it three times, and at no stage did I feel any less terrible than I did the first time. :P

It should be good for me too, and I think this time I'll be able to stay up a bit longer. :)

Wow, two weddings a week apart? People waiting until after the pandemic eh? :P

Well, we can hardly do it without you! And this Saturday is out given the short notice ( :fou: ), so I guess our options are 10/17/24 July or 14/21/28 August?

Yeah, one of them was originally supposed to take place last summer but got postponed.

Let's start a poll and keep it open for no longer than a week, then! We'll probably have to exclude July 10, too.

So shall it be!

I guess I'm available for all the dates, but the sooner it is, probably the less reasonable notice I can give for taking a bunch of holidays around it, which I had been sorta planning :oops2:

I voted for the July options, however as long as the event takes place during a weekend, I think I should be able to participate in any date.

I won't be available for July 24th, but I'm good to go otherwise.

So, looks like the 21st and 28th are the best dates. Flip a coin?

I say we wait until the end of today for people to let us know if they prefer one or the other, and if no one cares, then we flip a coin!

Well, I'm personally leaning towards the earlier date, so if nobody disagrees, I guess that's what it'll be!

I just realized I set up record day to start one day later than I meant to, meaning it will mostly take place on the 22nd for most people. I feel it's a bit late to amend this now, since people have been monitoring the counter and might only turn up on Sunday now, but I hope this won't prevent anyone from joining. :oops2:

Oh dammit! It's a break with tradition, but maybe that's the kind of kick up the backside this occasion needs! :noel: I think Sunday might work better for me, so fingers crossed!
