I don't know if anyone's trying to imply that they're "lowly" considerations though!
Re: How gay is RPC?
I don't know what's going on here but I like women.

Re: How gay is RPC?
Are you suggesting I'm being too hard with myself, being the only one who called it that?

Re: How gay is RPC?
I was reading today about some survey (I think it was of college students) where about 75% said they were straight, 10% bi, and then 2~3% gay and another 2~3% ace. So perhaps the latter groups are somewhat overrepresented here – I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for that!

Re: How gay is RPC?
Forum dwellers are most not certainly not representative of the general population, but I'm at a loss as to what exactly is the cause of this difference.

Re: How gay is RPC?
For a while I thought there might be subliminal messages in the Rayman games themselves, but that doesn't seem too plausible.
Feels like it's some combination of being a gaming forum, and something about the type of game that Rayman is… I don't know really…

Re: How gay is RPC?
Clearly, the figures you gave seem more in line with what I see IRL, so we can only attribute this difference to forums and Rayman.

Re: How gay is RPC?
Maybe someone will do a study on it one day. We've had student members hand out surveys before, haven't we?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember something like that. The problem is, most of the voters here have probably left.

Re: How gay is RPC?
Yeah, that's the thing with these polls. People can just drop in and vote, and it's here forever.
Actually, in that case, maybe the explanation is simple: selection bias. Straight people are less likely to breeze by a topic like this and vote!

While less sex = less accidental children for sure, I think it is more of a conscious decision in most of the Western world - to have less children, in order to pursue other lifestyles, other goals in life.PluMGMK wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:41 pm with all the modern distractions, people are basically having way less sex than they used to, leading to a population implosion![]()
In the end it brings the decline of civilization, which is sad. Societies that procreate always triumph in the end.

Re: How gay is RPC?
Yeah, in geography class, they taught us that more education and access to contraception was responsible for population declines, rather than less sex. I guess the former is more important, but it's still amusing to think that people are actually just having less sex, even though we're talking about it way more!
Re: How gay is RPC?
Heh. At my work there used to be these two guys who talked about food all the time during morning coffee breaks. I asked them why the talk about it so much. They said they had both been on rather strict diets at that time, so they could not eat the food, and instead they talked about it. Maybe it's the same thing here.PluMGMK wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:42 pm Yeah, in geography class, they taught us that more education and access to contraception was responsible for population declines, rather than less sex. That's probably a good point, though quantifying this is another pair of shoes!PluMGMK wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:36 pm Actually, in that case, maybe the explanation is simple: selection bias. Straight people are less likely to breeze by a topic like this and vote!![]()
Indeed! This is probably one of the main drivers of the endless wheel of civilizations, where they inevitably rise and fall, only to be taken over by others. This, and the whole "Hard Times Create Strong Men" story.dr_st wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 2:39 pm While less sex = less accidental children for sure, I think it is more of a conscious decision in most of the Western world - to have less children, in order to pursue other lifestyles, other goals in life.

This subject has been ressurected because of the RD? Oh, no, it's from July.
Meh, never answered this poll, let's do this while I'm here. I'm straight, m8!

Re: How gay is RPC?
Yeah, we use Skype at work now, and sometimes I feel limited by the selection of smileys here, compared to what's on Skype. But then Skype doesn't have
or
(although it has "happy") so it balances out!

I just realized that Humch had ninja-posted me here – this was meant to be in response to dr_st's message about talking about something because you're not having it!
