No, probably not. I can tell you that one of my broken laptops just needs a new hard drive and then it would be fixed! Hopefully I won't lose data that I had saved on it!

Back them up? Like to a USB stick? Tbh I find USB sticks to be a pretty stupid invention. They stick out of the side of the PC, just itching to get kicked, or hit, or spilt on, or God knows what else, and then bye-bye files
I could try that, but I can't get the broken laptop past the loading screen! And yeah I have had moments where I have screwed up the USB and it broke right away so I have my misgivings with those!
Well, have you tried a Linux boot-disc (or boot-USB-stick ) to see if you can access your files without booting the OS?
Not yet, but I'll give it a shot after RD's over. I think I may have some Linux USB-sticks my friend gave me, so I'll have to look for those and my old laptop (which I hope mom has not thrown out yet!)
I hope she hasn't! If there's a chance the data could be recovered, you don't want it falling into the wrong hands!

I made this mistake too many times when I was working on games, then I'd lose the files and just stop caring.
