Mac or PC?

Who knows? The thread's like 8 years old and the OP has been MIA for awhile now.

I still choose PC over Mac, even if PC can't get Rayman Mini.

Anyway, I've put my money where my mouth is and voted PC, with the caveat that any PC of mine will run Linux.

So apparently Macs are gonna start running ARM chips developed by Apple soon, moving away from Intel x86 (having moved from PowerPC to x86 over a decade ago). So I guess the technical side of the Mac-PC divide is gonna get wider again.

I wonder what one would vote in this poll if using a POWER-based computer that's not an old PowerPC Mac. After all, I guess technically, "PC" means IBM-compatible and implies the presence of x86…

That's pretty interesting. They've been using Intel for a long time now, and AMD GPUs, so I wonder what kind of difference this is going to make. I've never really had a Mac though, I always just had PCs where I had the freedom to install whatever OS I wanted.

Macs are only good for Logic Pro now, total garbage otherwise.

I've heard of many people using Mac's for work purposes. To be fair, I have never owned one, but I don't see it as being my cup of tea. Personally I have never been too fond of Apple, especially since the likes of iOS are extremely limited.

I have one for work, and while I'm not a huge fan of the OS, the quality of the hardware is more than than commendable, and since I mostly use web-based tools it's also less of an issue.

On the external side I'd agree - I think MacBook touchpads are leagues better than any other laptop's on the market, they have the best keyboards, and beautiful screens. They also perform all their common functions very seamlessly.

On the internal side, the hardware itself is good, but I'm horribly concerned about their lifespan due to the heat throttling issues now prevalent in MacBooks and iMacs being so bad... in addition to that providing embarrassing performance compared to what it should be. I really hate how thin they try to make the laptops now... I thought the 2013-15 ones were perfect, and had my favourite touchpad/keyboard, which are also definitely now worse due to the thinner design.

Yeah, I should have made myself clearer, I was solely referring to the 'external' hardware, and I basically agree with everything you said about it. I lack the knowledge to comment on the internal components so I'll just pray that mine doesn't die on me.

The touchpad on my laptop is a piece of crap so I guess that makes sense. The fact that they try make laptops so thin is very bad for thermals definitely, and it usually results in the case breaking apart where the hinges are after some time.

Out of the components Ad mentioned, I think the touchpad is where the difference is the most noticeable. It just feels much more precise and responsive than anything else I've tried. I use a mouse whenever I can so it's no big deal but still, it does make a difference in all the other situations.

Yeah the touchpad on my laptop is terrible, the cursor often jumps to another location when you try click on something. I would use a mouse with mine too if I had to, though I often use my desktop anyway.

Definitely PC. I'm not used to Mac. For example, in a MacBook I have a hard time operating the touchpad.

I’ve been a Mac user since 2013 and I have no trouble using a trackpad – heck, I even use an external one instead of a mouse! I feel it’s more comfortable.

Gotta agree with you there… At work I'm probably the only person without a mouse at my desk, since I just use my laptop's trackpad. I love not needing to manoeuvre this big clunky thing around the desk, but I think everyone else is the opposite! At home I have a tablet, which I very rarely use for actual drawing, but it's more agreeable for general clicking than using the mouse (when it works), except if I have a load of papers sitting on it that I'm procrastinating dealing with

None of this changes the fact that I'm a PC person, not a Mac one
