Rayman 3 GOG version issues

Hey guys, I have a gaming laptop with a gtx 960m and intel i5 6300hq with 16gb of ddr4 ram. I purchased rayman 3 from gog and can get it working fine, however the game will not detect my graphics card but detects my i5 6300hq's integrated graphics fine. Ive tried forcing it to run with my gpu but no luck and i tried forcing it through the control panel and no luck. Anyone know the issue? Thanks

If the game is working fine with the integrated GPU, why do you need it to use the discrete one?

Because the framerate is horrendous.

I am surprised that you would suffer low framerate. The game is so old, that even the most basic modern integrated GPU should play it without breaking a sweat. My feeling is that something is wrong with the configuration.

Did you check all the possible graphics-related options in the configuration program that shipped with the game (assuming there was one)?

Do you have an option to disable the integrated GPU in the BIOS (just temporarily, for the purpose of testing)?

On Windows 10, there is a "feature" in NVIDIA's drivers preventing DirectX 8 games from utilising the discrete GPU. Not much can be done about this, unfortunately. You could try using a DirectX8 to 9 wrapper, which may help. Download this file, and place it in the same directory as Rayman3.exe, then try and run the game. Note that in some circumstances, the game's configuration panel will not detect the NVIDIA card (even if you run it on the card), but you can tell if it is being utilised by following these instructions.

If this still doesn't work, I do have another more complicated alternative, but I'm hoping this will work for you.

I'm guessing they haven't resolved it, since DirectX 8 is really old and (I'm guessing?) unsupported. But they might have surprised us… I wonder what Win11 is like…

Are Rayman games region-locked in GOG? I wouldn't think so, and they are not mentioned in that topic at all...
