Rayman Fangame: Mr. Dark’s Last Stand.

Rayman Origins' Vita port has that silly background story unlockable where his wife (a different character altogether, mind you) tries to cut his new hair. They're not really what I'd call canon I guess but they did exist at some point.

Indeed, we haven't bothered to turn on post review since Record Day in 2021, but maybe we should turn it back on with this latest surge in activity!

I think the toughest part is getting Mr. Dark’s frames down. In Rayman, he has only has five frames for his cloak, his cloak is very important for the second half of the final boss. I thought of using the cloak sparingly for both phases.

I would absolutely recommend Game Maker if you're looking for something a bit more capable. There's some great tutorials on YouTube (Shaun Spalding especially) that are great for first starting out with development.

Thank you! I was gonna get started with it actually! Coding may be scary for one such as myself, but I’m sure I can handle it! Thanks for the recommendation! And I’m happy my fangame has has gotten this much support!


Oh! I almost forgot to mention! The OST! Ever since it started production, I always wanted to use the GBA OST of DKC3 for the soundtrack. I grew up with that game and the music is very personal to me, not to mention I consider Rayman a second DKC series in my eyes. I know it doesn’t fit at all, but stuff like “Bonus Time!”, “Stilt Village”, “Treetop Tumble”, “Rockface Rumble” and others are all planned to be included. But not the originals, no no.


I’m using remastered versions of all those songs I mentioned! Those as of now, Bonus Time, my number one favorite song from the game has yet to be published.

And honestly, I couldn’t be happier! The song names will not be changed as I can’t bring myself to do it/I can’t think of better names. They’ll be given their own folder when they’re released.

This is what makes me more invested, getting to use my childhood soundtrack. And it makes it a lot more special to me.

What an epic mash up, Rayman + DKC3. I'll have to agree that DKC is pretty similar to Rayman, with the nice sprites, absurd difficulty and whatnot...

(Also there isn't anything wrong with having a stand-in, anytime anyone writes a character, they usually leave a piece of themselves in said character whether it be in their dialogue, mannerisms etc.)

Indeed! I agree that the two are similar to one another! After playing Rayman 3 GBA for the first few times, that got me thinking “Huh, he reminds me a lot of Dixie Kong.” And thus, my girl was created in around November. And since then, I haven’t looked back, even when she’s a stand in.

Reesie was planned to share some of Dixie’s animations, such as her damage/death, Ponytail Spin, etc (poor girl would get dizzy from all that spinning).

But as of now, only the damage/death sets were created. I just simply edited the Helicopter Hair from RRR GBA. Maybe I’ll go back to make them a bit better.

Hello people! I’m here today to ask for help with something very important. I’ve tried to find (or rip) the sprites for the Teensies and so far, Rayman 3 GBA, RRR GBA and Hoodlum’s Revenge brought up nothing.


The reason why I say this is because Jimmy the Teensie, Rayman and Reesie’s adopted son is crucial for this. I don’t know how to actually make sprites without using pieces from other sprite sheets.


It would mean so much to me if anybody is willing to make the sprites for Jimmy, who’d probably only have three frames since he doesn’t do much, maybe a run that would last for probably four or five frames to go along with it. If anyone is willing to help, I’ll credit you in the end credits (if the game gets that far)

If needed, I will gladly send a reference of Jimmy.

The boss is called that on the Spirters Resource so that’s what I assumed it was named. So technically yes, the giant Anti-Toon.

I think you misunderstood. Post review is a feature where if someone posts while you're typing your message, it lets you know and gives you a chance to revise what you said. Obviously we don't want it on Record Day, and since it's such a pain in the backside to enable/disable, we've just left it off. Overall there hasn't really been enough activity to need it

Anyways, to get on topic, I think that Reesie looks nice. Maybe you should make a funkyboard section. It would be 2D but maybe it could work. It's probably a bit hard to do so I understand why you wouldn't want to do it.

Hey howdy hey! I don’t think I showed all of the artwork I’ve created for my fangame (probably because I was and still am sick with a fever.)


At one point, I was considering getting an additional artist to help with the artwork, but I scraped it due to thinking it’d require money to which I don’t have. XD There’s nothing to worry about though, I ain’t forcing anyone into it, it’s entirely their decision to help.


Anyways, the artwork was done with Blender and based HEAVILY on the renders of the DKC trilogy from the 90’s. I currently haven’t finished all the bonus room renders because my brain is lazy when it comes to getting those done. I think only two were made: Find the Coin and Collect 15 Bananas (or in this case, Lums.

Um, I think that you have done a good job modeling. And you don't have to pay people especially because this is a fan game. I'm just a little confused by the one at the bottom. Is this going to be in the game? Edit: and now it's gone.
