Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
Every time this question is asked, I say "Rayman 2" without thinking. In fact, I must have done the same in this very thread.

All of them are good though if I had to choose I'd say Rayman 2, mainly because it was the first Ray game that I played, it introduced me to the series so it has a special place in my heart, plus I like the dark, somewhat serious atmosphere.

Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
Bump.
From a pure enjoyment standpoint:
Rayman 1 (nostalgia plays a factor here. Graphics, difficulty, music, gameplay all great. Mysterious and cool villain but final fight was disappointing.)
Rayman 3 (scoring system and combat. Most replay value of the series. Music is meh and humor is hit or miss.)
Rayman 2 (story/characters are great, music is good, but combat and enemy variety are weak and boring. Lesser replay value than Rayman 3.)
Rayman Legends (solid. Variety of levels/gameplay style.)
Rayman Origins (good, but a ton of beats taken from Rayman 1. It was probably intentional, but makes it less original and less interesting for me. Story is almost non-existent and not engaging. Almost no dialogue doesn't help either.)

Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
Had a dream where I posted on this thread after I saw it bumped last night, so why not
! I'm guessing I never posted in it ten years ago, because I hadn't answered the poll.
My top three Rayman games in no particular order:
Rayman 1 - Obviously a lot of this is fueled my nostalgia, but this is my Rayman. The aesthetic, the graphics, the music and the characters mean a lot to me, and I think it has the best worlds. Rayman is a treat to control, but as I've got older, I've grown to realise that while it is beatable, the gameplay is pretty brutal. They either needed to soften the level difficulty and make the conditions for unlocking Candy Chateau less cruel, or forgo the continues system entirely. Better difficulty balance is something I think most of the later games, including Rayman 2, really improve upon. But this game is dear to me, and the one I think of when I think "Rayman". I also might have a slight obsession with all the educational spinoff titles this game got, given I'm always hungry for more content in this version of Rayman's World!
Rayman Origins - It was a close run thing between this and Legends, which I think improves on certain aspects of the formula (The musical levels are way better than the Tricky Treasures), but I prefer the level set and returning characters in Origins. The game is simultaneously a love letter to Rayman 1 and something entirely unique. I like how it does very unique and not to retread-y takes on the worlds (I.E The music world now has a desert/birds theme, and feels very different from Band Land). It's a shame that the pop-art Picture City had to be cut, that would have been great to see in. The beat-em up style gameplay is fun, and doubley so in cooperative mode. My biggest complaint is that it probably would have been better with the content they cut at the last minute (More returning characters as playable skins rather than 11 teensies, and the whole cut story debacle)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA) - My quirkiest choice of the lot, but it felt wrong not to include my favourite handheld title in the series. I guess I kind of like this one for similar reasons I do Origins, it feels like a really good loveletter to the best parts of Rayman 1 and 2, yet plays more faithfully like an old school Rayman game. It is nice to have one good title that contains both Rayman and the Rabbids from this era, and I like how it brings to life some of the worlds from the superior Phoenix Studio Rayman 4, while actually doing something creative with those gaudy unlockable costumes from it's deformed big brother on home consoles. My main problem is that the game starts on a bit off an off note with that long dungeon escape level and the annoying music that accompanies it. You kind of have to bear with the game a bit before it really picks up.
In the dream I actually ranked every Rayman game from worst to best, but that doesn't seem to be the point here

Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
My favorite game in the series is Rayman 3. It's the first Rayman game i've ever played (even though my brother had Origins and Legends for Xbox 360). I played the Gamecube version using the joycons. I really liked Land of the Livid Dead. God, this level is soo beautiful!
Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
It is, and the music is the most charming in the game, too!Turbogm37 wrote: Thu Oct 06, 2022 9:54 pm I really liked Land of the Livid Dead. God, this level is soo beautiful!

Rayman 1:
Rayman 2:Rayman 1 is my favourite, me and my dad got it for our Windows 3.1 PC and we were blown away by the graphics and high quality CD soundtrack.
You could argue that it's nostalgia but really that isn't the full story here...
• I enjoyed the controls.
• The secrets and optional paths.
• The Soundtrack.
• The Graphics (Which were even better in the console ports).
• The fact the levels didn't hand hold you and the fact you had to actually try and master the game to see even more intriguing levels.
• The whimsical themes for each level (whether it be Band Land, Picture City etc).
Played a lot of the spinoffs for Rayman 1 too and enjoyed them too.
Rayman M:Me and my dad were hyped when Rayman 2 was being released and got it for our Windows 98 PC... Unfortunately it didn't really live up to the same hype.
Don't get me wrong though I still think it's a great game but it deviated away from what I enjoyed about Rayman 1, plus I was like "who the F#%£ is Globox and Ly!, where's the Magician and Betilla?" LOL.
Others:I played Rayman Rush and that was ok, didn't have other consoles at the time so couldn't play the better versions of that game.
Never played Rayman 3 or anything else afterwards; Seen bits of them but never really felt the urge to play them.

My favourite game is Rayman 3. I like the combat mode and the jokes. Also i like rayman 2, but the combat mode in rayman 2 is not so god like rayman 3.

Re: What is your favourite Rayman game?
I don't see only one favorite game. But with full confidence I can say that the original trilogy and UbiArt games is my favorite in the entire series.
