Did anyone preserve the music from all the Daily Bubble issues? (Rayman Origins)

Post by ArendAlphaEagle »

I only have saved a couple of them back 11 years ago (archived them here). It seems these songs (or at least some of them) are no longer accessible on the archived Daily Bubble issues, so these may essentially be lost media (well, the ones that aren't found in Rayman Origins, that is).

It's such a shame that this ditty from the Invasion issue isn't actually in Rayman Origins. I would've loved to hear the full version of this jazzy number, and unless it's actually from something else, it's essentially lost to time now.

There's also alternate versions of some tracks that ARE in Origins, like this one of the Tricky Treasure theme from the "Actions speak louder than words" issue, which is quite a bit longer, and I guess a bit less hectic as well. And I could've sworn that the version of Frozen Paradise from what I believe is the Miami Ice issue sounds a bit different compared to the one in the final game. I'm pretty sure there's also an alternate version of Riding the Storm from the Thunder issue, but I didn't have that one saved (I think someone put it on YouTube though).

I used HTTrack a while ago to preserve the content of all Daily Bubble issues, but sadly, it appears that it did not pick up the music. All I have is the markup and the images.

My plan at the time was to create and host a fully functional archive in the event that Ubi would take them down (which, unsurprisingly, eventually happened), but with 19 issues in 6 languages, I quickly gave up. I did however create a functional archive of issue 4 in English, meaning I have the audio for that one. I have uploaded it here in case you don't have it already; feel free to add it to the Google Drive!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but hopefully someone out there did a better job than me...

I think there's a way to recover more, however. I just checked the HTML source for an issue at random (in this case, number 8) and it appears to list the music files used in that issue. For example, the first one is 'content/08/ambiance.mp3', and I was able to find it on the Wayback Machine here.

So, maybe I got lucky and it's just this file from this issue that got archived, but it's likely that many more were preserved. I don't really have time to verify each file from each issue, but maybe I can share my files if someone feels like doing some digging?

Idk if I could be helpful but this is all the content of the archived Daily Bubble website you can find on the Wayback Machine.
To have a list of the audio only just filter the content by .mp3

Thanks a ton, man, that helps a lot. Unfortunately, however, out of the 102 mp3 files listed, only 26 of them (which includes all "ambiance" files) are preserved normally, as indicated by their "audio/mpeg" MIME type. The rest (which got a "text/html" MIME type instead) appear to be archived after Ubisoft took the Daily Bubble pages down, which is a bummer.

Still, this includes a bunch of working files, which I added to the Google Drive. I also updated some bits I got wrong accordingly (apparently, the alternate version of Frozen Paradise I highlighted earlier was from the Trophies issue, and the Miami Ice issue has yet another version of Frozen Paradise instead).

I also made a doc listing all the files missing from archive.org (with the ones already preserved in the drive crossed out).

Also, I need to find out which issue this one audio file I had archived before belongs to (as I have, er, forgotten which it belonged to). I know it has to be called "bubble_main.mp3", but all issues starting with #3 have a file called "bubble_main.mp3".

Good point Itzal, that's certainly the fastest way to find all the music archived on the Wayback Machine.

Anyway, glad that we were able to recover additional files. We're not quite there yet, but we're making progress. :)

Nice, glad I helped!
I hope we'll be able to find the missing ones someday :)
