Previously RCP was searching for the file name "Rayman Garden PLUS.exe", but when downloading from GameJolt it is "rayman-garden-plus.exe". I've released a new RCP update now (13.4.3) which changes it to match what GameJolt uses, so it should work now!

Rayman Control Panel 5th Anniversary Update teased at Rayman Alive: https://youtu.be/iz_y-Js9Cp4?t=995

You'll have to wait a bit however, coming early 2023. ☺️

This works Great ! I have a few questions about Rayman 1 :

1) Is there a way to copy the contents of my original Rayman 1 CD to avoid using a disk image ? I own the GOG version, but since I want to play it in French, I gotta usa a bin/cue.

2) Also, something weird happens playing with bin/cue. I downloaded and activated the Per-Level Soundtrack, it works well, but when I die, the music cuts and I hear a piece from the original PC for about 2 seconds when the screen is black. I mean, it's not a major problem or anything, and it might just be something that I messed up, but it's still a bit annoying.

Anyway, thanks for your amazing work !

1. You can use my tool ray1_unlocklang to play the GOG version in French :)

2. Do you hear Rayman dying first? I think it's a general issue...

I have an issue with R1 in RCP. Namely it does not seem to be possible to play it in complete full screen even with aspect ratio correction enabled (that is, with no black borders on the top and bottom, or a large one on the bottom), though it is with Designer.

Output: ddraw
F Resolution: original
W Resolution: original
Scaler: 2xSai

For the record, I am using Forever.

What resolution do you have on your screen? It might help to search for related issues with DOSBox since it's more related to that than how RCP works in this case. It's odd it works for Designer though, are you certain all the settings are identical for both games? For me it displays in fullscreen just fine with the default settings (which includes having aspect ratio correction disabled).

Could you please clarify what you mean by it not being available? Do you have the red text under the utility saying it's unavailable? If so I would recommend trying to remove the game from RCP and adding it again. It should work as long as RCP can find the game's .ipk file in the game install folder.

yes, there's red text, I deleted legends from RCP, but it didn't help. There is a Patch ipk in the game files. The screen resolution is 1600 x 900, in legends as well. What kind of designer?Rayman designer?

You should have a file named "Bundle_PC.ipk". That's what RCP modifies to add UbiRay. If you don't have the file I'd recommend reinstalling or repairing the game installation.

Has anyone experienced any compatibility issues when trying to install both Rayman Control Panel and Rayman Forever DX+? I was hoping to use RCP to get the PS1 soundtrack and and DX+ to get the intro/outro videos and 60 Levels. I've managed to get RCP working, but DX+ seems to stop the PS1 soundtrack from working. This seems to happen regardless of which mod I install first.

Is this a known issue? I can't find anyone else talking about it, so it's possible that I'm doing something very stupid, but if anyone has any tips it'd be hugely appreciated.

I don't have Rayman Forever DX+ installed, but if it has the intro I assume it's not the 1.21 version of the game. If so it's important that you correctly specify the version in the RCP utility for the soundtrack to play. Otherwise the issue might be DOSBox related, but if you launch through RCP it should be using the correct files.

Ah, okay, thanks. DX+ uses version 1.12. Setting that as the version in RCP seems to almost-but-not-quite work - the stdout.txt file in the TPLS folder records a "Activating custom Rayman soundtrack" whereas it didn't do that when the RCP version was set to auto... but it still seems to be stuck using the PC soundtrack rather than the PS1 soundtrack.

I can't see anything obvious when poking through configuration files in notepad, but the DX+ download uses a large rayman.exe and various changes to other files so maybe there's something deeper in there that conflicts with RCP.

Anyway, I think I'll just stick with RCP, and leave DX+, because I'd rather have the PS1 soundtrack than the intro/outro videos.

A large Rayman.exe? Must be decompressed and modified! I must look into this, I'll try to remember to do it over the weekend!

Yeah, the file that came with the GOG install is 419 kB, whereas the one in the Rayman DX+ download is 906 kB, so that struck me as a notable difference, although I don't know if it's necessarily significant.

Just to double check, did you try all three 1.12 versions in RCP? When I was going through the known versions of the game for this I found 3 different versions of 1.12, so it can be any of them used here.

Rayman Forever DX+ uses Rayman US 1.12 (the unprotected one, with no CD checks), which has been uncompressed with PMWUNLIT (or equivalent).

Other than that I found no meaningful modifications. Running a binary diff on the version from DX+ and on my own copy of US 1.12, decompressed manually, shows some random differences in hex offsets between 0x32182 and 0x3369F, which appear to be non-functional. Such differences can occur, from my experience, even in two different runs of the same decompression tool on the same source executable. I don't know what causes them, but never found them to affect functionality. I suspect it may be some random garbage (possibly it is some meaningless junk existing in the original pre-compression source, which is thrown out by the PMODE/W compressor, and so the decompressor fills it back with some other random junk).

I see. Does PMODE/W load LE files at a different absolute address to PMW1 files then? That would explain why the RCP soundtrack (which uses absolute offsets in Dosbox physical memory) doesn't work. But my TSR should still work in that case…

Not sure if it is a conclusive test, but running DOSBox debugger on the compressed and uncompressed executable, placing a breakpoint at the file open interrupt, showed the same offset in both cases.
