Re: Rayman ReDesigner

Hi there! :)
I have a new level in work for Rayman ReDesigner: Bad notes

The idea is to create a level in the same style as the levels in Rayman Redemption. There will be 6 cages, 1 gift and 2 tokens to find, for a total of 3 main sections and one bonus magician challenge. I choose to do this level in Band Land, because its template is easier for me to use and I didn't make a lot of ReDesigner levels in this world.

Here's some screenshots of the actual prototype:

And if you want to play a little tricky level, here's one where you need to find the trick to finish it :bad:

No, no mod and no customs graphics will be needed, I'm only using existing elements from Rayman ReDesigner.

B O N J O U R.

Yes, I'm alive! Yes, I'm still working on infinite things! Yes, I'm busier than ever cuz adult life sucks! Yes, I'm still an idiot who can't make short texts! And NO, Dark Legacy is s t i l l not finished!... But hear me out: YOU CAN PLAY IT NOW!
Ye! The GBC version is pretty much 100% done aside from something I'm planning for the music, so I may as well go for the demo thing again, until I'm done with that and the PocketMonster Computer and PepperoniOS versions or whatever! :P

Image

This demo contains all four levels from Dark Legacy and the world maps as usual...
Plus two variations of Ubi Cliff! I did the same thing as with the Fairy Glade's bonus and used the original challenge for the first version and a stricter variation for the second one (except you not only have five fewer seconds to beat it, but Mr Dark will also steal your helicopter power as a reference to the fact you could play the stage without all the powers back in the days!). Now you also get to see the New Record screen! :hehe:
How to access these? Go to Time Attack (any portal/Magician on the World Map other than those for Dark Legacy) and then pick a hat! Those at the left of the area will send you to the normal version, those in the middle section do the same but will skip the bonus screen, and those at the right of this place will send you to the big challenge! An exit sign to immediately finish the level has also been added here for that extra sweet convenience!
Then, for the final extra touch... I added the credits! Which you reach by taking the usual exit sign in the World Map! And I think you're gonna be surprised by how I implemented them! At first, I thought I would make a generic location you would simply walk through... Boring... But then I got a cool idea involving the new layer system!... I hope you're going to like it! :proud: And if you don't, just walk far enough to the left or the right to skip the credits.

So, here we go! Download and merge e v e r y t h i n g !
Dark Legacy GBC ReDesigned - (Demo).zip
(2.87 MiB) Downloaded 100 times

Well, you don't actually need everything... but you wouldn't want to miss out on some of the level's music and graphics, right? :bad:
And I don't need to babysit you through the process of adding everything to the appropriate folders of the same name, right?... You're grown up now. You can't rely on your parents for your whole life. :nono: :noel:
The Time Attack music isn't in there tho, but hey, you can't have everything with a file limit of 5 and of 3 Mo here (and a moronic ReDesigner guy called "Rayman Saturn" who can't compress for shit). :hap:
NO PLEASE, don't throw me into the whiny member dungeon! I swear that wasn't a complaint! :'(
Wait, what's this silly-looking white thing with... rabbit ears?... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!-

Image

-Basically, bundle 1 has all the essentials... GBC level and graphics, including the new foreground for the World Map's cave.
-The second one has the original Dark Legacy's music (so you'll hear the modern Redemption version if you don't use this) and the previous worlds' original foregrounds! So you can add them yourself into the old levels (using the new layer system for custom graphics) until I finally update the previous worlds.
-Third pack has the music for the Credits and the foregrounds remade with the usual oil painting filter.
-Fourth one has the two tracks for bonuses (and an extra...), plus the new record screens of the game's other versions so you can see what I did with them and tell me what you think before they get implemented. :?:
-Final bundle is just the world map music and a map I made which lists the intended stages for Time Attack... The latter won't be of any use to you in ReDesigned, but it's always handy if you play the original official game.

As for the skins... No progress whatsoever, I will just link the old ones cuz I'm lazy, and I'm most likely giving up forever on finishing them because it always takes far too much time and I desperately suck at spriting... yes this whole text is a fat ugly mess and I don't have the time to make it look better-...
Deal with it. :shoote: :hap:
download/file.php?id=8459

Image

You have no idea how much of a pain this was to recreate all of this mess as faithfully as possible... :paranormal:
Awesome extra world, but what a nightmare to replicate in ReDesigner... Especially since Dark Legacy takes pretty much everything from most of Rayman GBC, including these bloody bats and flames from Fiery Depths which can't really work (and no, Mr Dark's flames are permanent, so I can't use them)... I even had to change quite a few tiles and to fully improvise the way some platforms work so it can function. And that's not even mentioning some of the technical magic involving some invisible trigger fairies.. I'll give more details when we get to the full release.
And there are still some bits that may play off very weird and which are more difficult (or way easier) due to differences in behaviour between the two games... namely a certain "chase" in section 4 with the hair helicopter, which will need some trickery from you to go through it without getting hurt. Speaking of weird things, the original DL was a bit "bugged" with some of the triggers' sounds being silent... which I replicated wherever it could be done without making the level more confusing.
But hey, it's fully functional and as challenging as it was before, and you can still do it without running or taking damage. You may just need a slightly different approach sometimes. Also, you can use the Redemption version of the theme if you want, which is the only GBC music which has been remade in these fangames!
Oh... by the way, CHECKPOINTS ARE HERE! At last! They work exactly like in Rayman 2 Forever ReReReDesignerered! Well, except there's no "grey Lum" and just a gendoor! That'll save you a lot of rage in this trial... just make sure not to fall before the checkpoint in level 2, which is so conveniently placed behind one of Dark Legacy's most unfair bits...

Pretty sure there's not a single thing in this game that would require a mod, thankfully.

...Not that we even have many mods to begin with. :noelnoir:

Would be great if you could make another post for it here with the link so we can add it in the main post! :)

Indeed to all of this. :noel:
Though, more time will be needed for the rest. With the first game almost done, the greatest peak game of them all shall soon get all the attention. :bad:
I can't wait to fully remake the Citizen Kane of Rayman games. :hap:

You're welcome. I'm pretty curious what the lowgrade systems did with Dark Legacy's graphics myself! The grayscale one is probably 2spooky like Rocky Peaks was, hopefully it's not as empty as it was too!

Now here's also a video showcase of the Dark Legacy demo plus some unused recordings (both for it and the Rayman 2 Forever Fairy Glade's prototypes):

By the way, doing this allowed me to notice an issue I didn't realise before in both of these projects... Indeed, if you go back to a level from the world map and you use a checkpoint, the exit sign will actually take you to the next level rather than the world map. That's because the triggers replacing the exit signs are hidden at the beginning of most maps (in an unreachable tile) near an alternative spawn point (which makes you fall from that unreachable spot).
I don't know if I'll be able to fix that... Perhaps I could find something involving the Coloured Tings so it can be permanent as long as you are in the same section, but I can't guarantee anything. Until then, only use the checkpoints when you're playing through these areas before unlocking the World Maps.
Capture d’écran (44220).png
Other versions are making progress and so far I haven't noticed anything really different aside from a few odd tiles or a flying ring placed further up.

While I'm here, there are some neat discoveries I wanted to share with you all! By editing the levels' text files directly, you can do some things which would be otherwise impossible!
For example, you can set Rayman's starting HP to ANY number! That way, you can start a level with more than 10 points! If you want, you can even bring that counter to unbelievable heights... like 100000, for a life bar so comically large you won't see a hundretht of it! :hap:
But very big numbers will cause intense lags (or even crashes if it's really *that* big!), so don't go too crazy unless you want to play the slideshow edition™ of the game! :noel:
You can even set Rayman's life to 0 and it'll work! Rayman will simply die immediately... and you'll be able to """enjoy""" an endless cycle of deaths!
It can also place the camera in odd positions from what I've noticed too...

Capture d’écran (34677).png
Capture d’écran (34673).png

However, I know what you're wondering... and tragically, the answer is no... You can't change the limits of the map's sizes. It simply doesn't work (unlike what Todd Howard claimed! :pascontent:).
On the other hand, by editing some numbers like the coordinates (experiment with a few objects in an empty map so you can figure out what everything means in the txt file), you can make some objects go outside the usual bounds! For example, through this, you can place the entirety of a Gendoor/Killdoor slightly above or below the limits (the red lines in the editor) and it'll still work if you can make Rayman or a Fairy somehow touch them (like by jumping high enough)!
Though, only a few simple things like this will function, while placing actual entities such as enemies will simply crash the game...

Capture d’écran (34674).png
Capture d’écran (34678).png

So, basically, there are a lot of unusual things we can still achieve just by ""modding"" the txt files through very simple changes! I'm sure there are a lot more stuff to discover which I didn't think of, so be creative! :D

All of that aside, other projects are also still in the works, but I'm done announcing anything ahead of time (like Rock'n'Run which I must remake) as I can easily run out of the time I need to work on specific things these days... What may appear to be something I could complete very soon could completely change depending on life events and as priorities start shifting, so it may be delayed to months... or even more if I'm really that unlucky (and incompetent). :oops2: :confus:

(Rayman in the Mario+Rabbids teaser right now 👀)

By the way I was interrupted halfway through while writing this post by a very intense nosebleed (as I get these almost everytime summer starts), so I guess that "almost dead" does apply here after all the human tomato juice I just lost :noelnoir:
Guess that the highly demanding GBC game really made the computer upgrade all worth it! :P

It's true that the community has been a bit "dead" recently. Even YouTube doesn't have nearly as much videos as you usually see about the game. Honestly, it's a shame only a few people like me and RaymanRedemption are pretty much single-handedly keeping it alive here, and my current maps are just recreations of an already existing game... On a side note, I miss RaveyDavey, I loved the levels so much! :ouin:
That's actually a great idea! I'm not much of a contest guy and I don't know how to organize this exactly, but I think we could definitely set up something like this!

That level two sure has many nasty tricks! Also the fact that some parts are almost "broken" in ReDesigned due to limitations (like the part with the many platforms) certainly doesn't help! :oops2:
Since I couldn't replicate the original where the screens were just replaced by the next ones, I thought a good old-fashioned credits screen scrolling downwards would be a nice equivalent! Glad you liked it! :D

We all happen to return at about the same time, it would seem! :mryellow:

Though, seems like I'm the only who missed the computer upgrade party! At least I don't have to forcefully move on to Windows 11 yet! :bad: ... but I'm still stuck with 10! :mefiant:
Now you can enjoy the best Game Boy game in ultra crisp Full HD pixels! :hehe:

All my silliness aside, hope everyone is doing great! :)

And speaking of which, Rayman 2 Forever should finally return next month!... Or during the next one... or the one after that... I think it's obvious by now I'm not the best at finishing things punctually, am I? :fou:
See you """soon"""!... If I'm still alive by then. :noelfou:

Hi! Undefeatable Fist just got updated for version 1.4.4! https://raydistributor.com/content/RAY-B4BA-86

Image

And its sequel ("Break Through Metal") is nearing completion! That second map should release very soon and will not only add a completely new section inspired by Rayman 2 and the Wyvern boss from Sonic Frontiers (mainly its theme "Break Through It All"), but also bring back the original Undefeatable Fist level with plenty of changes (including most of what has been done in its update)!
That way, the original stays true to itself while the sequel can take more liberties with it!

Here are the changes for the original Undefeatable Fist:
-Changed the file’s naming convention.
-Changed the custom files’ names.
-Updated the readme.
-Added the Dark Magician as a decoration.
-Added a decorative Tall Flame.
-Fixed Mr Sax getting stuck in the starting area by adding an extra jump mechanism.
-Made the Gendoor Fairy invisible.
-Changed a few tiles to make it easier to take some of the alternative paths.
-Added the Ting Magnet in the path with the Cymbal Traps.
-Added Space Mama and a new Gendoor to spawn her at the beginning of the Picture City part. Though, don’t expect her to do much considering her speed...
-Moved some of the breakable walls to fix some issues, including a softlock. Glad that Ryemanni never patched that wall/vertical blocker glitch after so many years. :hap:
-Gave Cage requirements to the Magic Walls, thus breaking them if you have enough Cages. It’s just for the cool effect here tho.
-Gave a purpose to the Bolls by making them spawn some of the final "decorative" enemies and by removing the Prickly Swings.
-Moved some of the related enemies slightly lower and more to the right.
-Added Darktoon and the Menace in that same location, spawned by the Bolls.
-Added a Magic Cloud requiring you to break the Gift.
-Added the Laser-Washing Powders which spawn below the platform where all the bosses suddenly appear. They’ll only spawn if you took the top alternative path at the beginning of the level.
-Added a text and a Magician Exit in the secret ending (when you backtrack thanks to the Gift’s keys) to give you the possibility to retry the level if you got the Token.
-Added an extra spawning point for Rayman when you use that Magician Exit. It’s located closer to the left edge of the level.
-And maybe a few more minor improvements I forgot about... :confus:

hoodlumsworld wrote: Sun Jun 25, 2023 11:32 am Dark Legacy looks great! ☺️ Do you think those hacks you found in ReDesigner will be useful to some of your current projects?
Thanks! Speaking of which, the other versions are still far from being done (aside from the PPC one), but it’s definitely making progress! And the great news is that I did manage to fix the Checkpoint issue I talked about! :mryellow:
Probably not (unless I give Rayman a ton of starting HP for Undefeatable Fist’s final sequel inspired by Rayman 3 and Knight/Find Your Flame from Sonic Frontiers), but that certainly can bring more fun possibilities for the community. :bad:

Sadly, I haven’t had much time for anything due to my current language training eating up all of my time, so I’m sorry if stuff like Dark Legacy’s complete release is getting even more delayed.
But hey, we’ll get there eventually, so we can move on to Rayman 2 Forever’s remaining worlds, the best Ramen game EVAR! :noel:

Re: Rayman ReDesigner

HI THERE! Super Rayman is back, except he’s Golden Rayman now, for even more ReadyBrek jokes! :hehe:

Introducing Break Through Metal, the long overdue sequel and remake to Undefeatable Fist!

Download: https://raydistributor.com/content/RAY-AVWL-PQ

Image

This is comprised of two sections, including the brand new one (dedicated to Rayman 2 and Break Through It All), plus the old level Undefeatable Fist with many changes!
Not only does this new version feature most changes in Undefeatable Fist’s recent update, but it takes them way further and truly implements everything from the 1.4 series of updates!
For example, the background has been changed, only the second half of Undefeatable is used this time, the cloud chases you if you take the top path at the beginning, Space Mama is here and actually does more than just walking, and some Darktoons are added in the "boss battle" so the "Mr Antitoon" can throw projectiles at you! Overall, it’s really superior to the original map! :proud:

Image

You’re not invincible for most of the experience this time in the first map, but you’re still overpowered and have to go fast (with a lot of flying involved)!
While the previous level had a secret rule of putting only three units of most objects to avoid overloading everything, Break Through Metal took it to five for even more action! Well, there’s far less variety here as it’s more robotic/pirate-themed to fit the context, so it was kind of necessary. :mryellow:
I really tried to make it a tribute to Rayman 2 as a whole, so you start by "escaping" Razorbeard’s forces, then work your way through his pirate bases to end up defeating the Grolgoth while being on a flying mount! Making your own bosses in ReDesigner is hard, so I improvised something using Darktoons and custom graphics and by separating the antennas and arms into distinct sprites so they can disappear when you "break" them.
Speaking of which, while I didn’t use it in the video as a reference to the original Bzzit, I highly advise to use his bee skin as that’s what looks the closest to both a "super form" and to the Flying Shell!

Image

Also, unlike the other collectibles, I didn’t double the number of Cages but brought it to a total of 10 as a reference to the requirement to get more health in the original Rayman 2. Although your only reward here will be to break the Magic Walls in the second section if you backtrack after defeating the "Mr Dark", which will earn you many extra lives and Tings.
I also brought back the Magician Exit in this location to retry the section from the beginning (you need the two Tokens). I’ve also added another one in the first part (requiring one Token), but this one will only make you retry the Grolgoth boss. As for the Gifts, they’ll only unlock the Magic Clouds in the ultimate area, even if it barely has any purpose aside from being a clue for the secret exit.

Oh, and there’s a major easter egg in the level consisting of a complete alternate path as well as some extra story for Razorbeard and his "ready-to-assemble" Grolgoth! Are you able to find it? Well, I can tell you if you want, but that’s a secret between us, buddy! :bad:
If you crawl to the left at the beginning, you can then go below the starting platform. If you continue, many things will appear (and disappear), including some Protoons to make you invincible. Then, if you follow the usual direction you’ll come to a literal stop as the way is blocked. However, the liquids went away, thus allowing you to reach a teleporter which will move you to the caves. Inside, you’ll not only find Razorbeard getting ready for his battle, but also a very spooky foe... If you can escape the Noseless entity through the tunnel, you’ll be able to go back to the normal level, but with more extra power-ups to help you! However, I really advise that you take the Checkpoint as the "heads" will still follow you (since I can’t killdoor them after they appear), so the boss can be far harder if you’re not fast enough... :hinhinhin:

Since I’ve updated the caves’ decorations after making the video (as it looked very barebones down there), I figured you might prefer the older version in case you easily get distracted by the new stuff.
So this version not only takes away the custom music as usual, but brings back Break Through Metal to its prerelease state with fewer details in the underground.

Though, the custom graphics have been kept as they’re required for the boss and some story-related decorations, so don’t forget to merge the entire Custom folder with your own no matter which version you download.

Made A Bunch of levels on rayman redesigner Hope you enjoy it

Post by AdamTheDragon1 »

This is my first experience with making/editing levels, I never would have imagined it would be that entertainning as an activity. Rayman 1 is for me the best platformer i ever played so I decided to reimagine some of the game's levels and create some new levels based on the layout of the original game worlds.Ngl,It took some time to work on this especially with the gendoors and killdoors configurations as well as decoration part. Gonna share the levels links as soon as possible .Have fun and Good luck!

Welcome to RPC! :) Thanks for sharing the links, although it looks like the files are not publicly accessible. I suggest zipping the levels and attaching them directly to your post here :)

Re: Rayman ReDesigner

Just quickly dropping by to say everything is making progress, slowly but surely! I might also finally update the previous worlds before finishing Dark Legacy and moving on to Rayman 2 Forever! :)
I think that before any remake, I may also release another update of Rock'n'Run but for Rayman Redistributor adding all the new content while not changing much of the level at the same time. We'll see. :hehe:

EDIT: Good news! The SNES skin recolour originally planned for Rayman Redemption has recently be recreated in ReDesigner thanks to Ryemanni providing the file and letting someone complete the sprite!

Rayman 2 2D LEVEL - The Collateral Lands!!!!

Post by AdamTheDragon1 »

It took me 2 full days to work on this level, I wish I could have had a better background for the 2nd screen, This is a very fun level with some little puzzles and some intense platforming sections, Regalez-vous/Enjoy!!

Re: Rayman ReDesigner

Hi there! :)

I would like to highlight a really well-designed level made by KingCraft. The point is that this level has been designed in the same style as some old Rayman Designer levels. When I played this level, I could feel these Rayman Designer vibes within the level! I really advice you to play it there:
