I have tried using Firefox, but it seems that it uses more resources and memory than Safari or Chrome.

That's strange, it's not the case for me on Linux at least.

I've decided to try switching from qutebrowser to Luakit. I've been very fond of qutebrowser for the last four or five years, but the backend situation is really untenable – by being based on Qt, there's a choice between QtWebKit, which is practically unmaintained, or QtWebEngine, which is a Chromium-based behemoth with convoluted data structures resulting in usability issues. With all this, I was finding myself resorting to opening Firefox to make even basic use of more and more of the web, so I decided I needed a change.

Luakit seems OK – the interface is really similar to qutebrowser, but it's based on Gtk, meaning it uses the well-maintained Gtk version of WebKit. The configuration is a bit trickier, and less-well-documented (or maybe that's just because I'm more familiar with Python than Lua!), and there are no doubt features I'll miss. On the other hand, Luakit supports per-domain default zoom levels, which qutebrowser could never do without a special patch, so that's good! :partyhat:

I still haven't even tried another browser instead of Firefox, but maybe that's just me not wanting to go through the effort of compiling a different one when I just want to do something like look at a video on YouTube. :oops2:

And with qutebrowser on QtWebKit, I couldn't do that  I've set myself up with pipe-viewer though!

I still use Firefox, but maybe that will change soon because LFS doesn't want to compile the latest version without acting the eejit.

As I mentioned in the music topic, I've switched back to qutebrowser for RD. Luakit's all right, but the keyboard link-following just isn't very reliable, and I need reliable to post fast…

I mainly use Firefox or used to use it's version with a different brand on Linux (that was years ago, though.) Also, I used the Wii U browser recently and tried going to Pirate Community and it didn't even work. Many websites don't work. It's toast. :tssk:

The Wii U browser… Was that based on a version of Opera? Or am I thinking of the original Wii? Because yeah, Opera's been basically dead since the mid-2010s, when they basically turned it into a Chrome clone…

Apparently I mentioned a year ago that Firefox wouldn't compile and I might change my browser, well I'm still using Firefox at the moment anyway.

I' switched to Firefox awhile ago. I still have the issue of using a lot of memory when I open multiple tabs but at least it doesn't slow my computer's performance like Chrome did. Was an easy transition, since I also used this browser in the past too.

Still using Firefox myself, even when I use Windows. I find sometimes when certain things such as Unity are being stupid on Linux, I just switch over to Windows. I'm not sure if something on my distro is broken that causes those issues, or if Unity is just being weird. I assume by default it works better on Windows like most programs.

I use Flashpeak Slimjet. It's Chromium based, but fast and claims not to disclose your full history up to your ancestors 30 generations back to Google.

The only exception is that if I ever need to open a semi-modern side on a Windows XP system - then I use the latest Firefox ESR for that system (I think it's 52.9). It has the advantage of using its own cipher suites. Chromium and Internet Explorer use the OS suites, which are outdated on XP/Vista, so most websites will no longer work in these browsers.

I switched to Opera recently. I like how it’s so far saved all my tabs without me needing to bookmark them so I don’t have to keep looking for them.

Still using Chrome, just because I haven't thought about it in years, haven't had any problems, and therefore haven't had any incentive to switch. Now if I had incentive to wii u that would be different
