Help with Tonic Trouble widescreen!

Post by Garo »

Hey everyone, I have a little problem here. I've been trying to fix an issue with playing Tonic Trouble in widescreen. The issue? Objects disappearing on the edges of the screen, and even objects far away disappear as well! Now I think I've figured out the reason to why this is happening:

Basically AuToMaNiAk005's method of changing the FOV is done by going into Tonic Trouble's exe file and changing the FOV value there. Only issue is that using this method cause the objects to disappear and is like that in a lot of OpenSpace games (Rayman 2, Hype, etc.)

The solution? Finding the FOV value inside fix.sna and editing it there (Offset is 13670.) Only issue, it's not there? Yeah going to that offset with a decoded Tonic Trouble fix.sna leads to just null bytes. I've been trying other methods of finding the FOV value but all of them haven't resulted in any FOV changes.

So if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

I understand that that's the same method as presented in newer video for Rayman 2:

And it doesn't work?

Also, that patch is not compatible with Tonic Trouble and doesn't help somehow?

I thought that maybe the FOV value would be in the same offset as Rayman 2 and Hype's offset but I guess that isn't case. Honestly I'm not really sure how to look for the FOV value. lk19, the person who discovered how to find the FOV values for Rayman 2 and Hype didn't go that in depth on how they discovered them. I'm kinda stranded over here lol.
