Am I the only one who thinks that they should put the other Rayman games on Steam?

Post by Hiroshihimself41 »

I feel that it would be quite good to put them officially without depending so much on downloading it for free on pirated pages or on ubisoft connect because well, not many use it, although there is GOG, not everyone can buy it in this method as it happens in Latin America or other countries, only on Steam if it makes it more accessible to buy these games, for a reason I only bought Rayman Legends there

From a Rayman game released on Steam without counting Legends, Origins or RRR, it would be Rayman 2 that only those who pre-purchased Origins had years ago
And I mean, why shouldn't they release Rayman 2 for everyone on Steam, or put more games like Rayman 3 or Arena/M

Although they are not technically remasters or anything like that, it would be nice because more people would take an interest in the franchise, they could literally more or less apply like when they put the Earthworm Jim games in a bundle pack, only much better than this

What do you think? :hap:

Yeah, it's been a hot minute since any Rayman games have been ported since Rayman Legends Definitive Edition back in 2017. With the recent closure of the 3DS and Wii U eshops, the only places where you can even buy the first three Rayman games now are, as you mentioned, Ubisoft Connect and GOG, and also the Playstation 3 store- although that's already partially in the process of shutting down too.

A HD trilogy port that would release both physically and digitally on all modern platforms would be one of the best things the Rayman series has seen in a long time.

Yes they should, but you know Ubisoft isn’t because it would be pretty unsuccessful, we just have to pray there’s a rayman fan out there dedicated enough to do Ubi’s work for them

I don't understand why someone will want Steam when you can get it directly from Ubisoft Connect (and most of them on GOG) too. You want DRM on top of DRM?

You have a point you can get them free from other places, but they’d probably have a full remaster of the games if they were kind enough to put them on steam

This is a separate question. I don't see how the decision to have a remaster or not has to do with the platform.

Whatever about a Steam release, there will never be a (competent) remaster from Ubisoft. That's just not on their agenda or in their budget.

I also agree on the DRM side, Steam is not the optimal place for these games...

DRM or not, the average PC player uses Steam exclusively, so it's not surprising a certain number of people would want the games there as I already saw in my comment sections on YouTube.
While I did too, I already know Ubi would just force you to use their stupid launcher now on top of already using Steam...

That's why GOG is objectively the best PC platform for the Rayman franchise (and many other things too :hehe:).
And considering the fact Lazysoft messed up the HD remaster of Heroes of Might and Magic III they did when releasing it on Steam, yeah, they would most likely do even worse for Rayman there (and we already know just how well they did with most of their previous ports :hap:). Meanwhile, GOG has the superior original HoMM III with all its expansions, as well as all the old games of the series up to V.
Funny how two of the classic franchises they're holding hostage are at their best on the DRM-free platform. :noel:

I don't know if it's true anymore with so many alternative service (GOG, Epic, Origin, Uplay). Although, yes, Steam is the oldest and biggest of them all.

Yeah, that's probably not exactly correct anymore as it would be more accurate to say Steam simply has the biggest user base currently.
I did notice a lot more people are into EGS as of now; and the EA app (replacing Origin) and Battle.net got more attention lately through games like the Sims 4 (which went free for the base game) and I think the latter had some timed-exclusives (like Crash 4 at some point), plus some of their own exclusives like Diablo IV.
Wish GOG could get more attention rather than these, tho...

I've heard Origin is awful, but then that was a long time ago… And it's funny that we're all still saying Uplay even though it's been "Ubisoft Connect" for a while now :hap:

Same goes for Origin which died last year and became the EA app.
And yeah, it's really awful and it's always have been (though it had a pretty nice period long ago with free games from time to time and some classics which have been removed now... :mefiant: )!
Though, some people like me forced the EA app to downgrade back to Origin to play games offline and without -as much- intrusive services running in the background even when the launcher isn't on and that you turned off EVERY corresponding setting... EA. :hap: :beurk: :beurk: :beurk:

Oh wow, so it's now the "EA app" and it's even worse than that "Origin" thing everyone used to complain about? :o Man…

Always count on the best corporations to always sink lower in the toilet bowl whenever you think they already reached the bottom. :hap:
What's sad is that as much Origin sucked, at least it had *some* identity with its UI, logo and a few features. But then they thought it wasn't generic enough and gave it the most boring name and the blandest look you see in the average modern game laucher!
I don't think I've ever touched a worse gaming app than that... and I've touched the Bethesda launcher (RIP :bad: ) where more than half of the features were broken and the others just took you back to the website... cuz you know, you don't want to actually use a launcher when you've downloaded a launcher! :fou:

Just buy the GOG version and add a shortcut to it on your Steam client :hap:

Well, considering how back in the day you would get Rayman games package with cereal, laundry detergent, even cheese products, I'd say Rayman has definitely already been in every type of store at least.
