Still really bummed out about the fact that the online servers for Legends on PC aren't up anymore.
Not just for the daily challenges, but also... I wish I was able to unlock the achievements. 😅

Apparently they were taken down for security reasons... That suggests to me that in theory one could gut the Uplay integration out of the game, link it to a more modern and secure network library, and host third-party servers that do everything the official ones used to, but better.

Dunno how much work that would be. I'm guessing a lot :fou:

The first part was sort of solved already at release time, in the cracked DRM-free versions, wasn't it? Were they replacing Uplay calls in the game with dummy calls or did they have a library returning bogus replies to those calls? I never bothered to investigate.

Replicating the actual behavior of the official servers - now that is likely harder. :mryellow:

I've never downloaded one of those cracked releases, so I don't know either. I'd imagine they changed some conditional jumps to unconditional or something. The rate of cheating on the leaderboards leads me to believe that the protections in the game weren't very tamper-proof!

Hey all, is it known that you can activate Murfy on the switch version of the game undocked by having 2 players active and tapping player 1 until they switch to Murfy? I wish I knew about this earlier, the game doesn't say this anywhere and I don't see anything about this being a thing online besides a glitch in the demo.

Sad. And he was BGE&2 creative director. Wonder what's gonna happen to the game now.

Not to doompost, but I'm beginning to doubt BGE2 will ever come out. It feels like that game has just had setback after setback. It's probably becoming a big moneysink for Ubisoft.

That's true. And yet, they said on LinkedIn that his influence would live on in the BGE2 universe. Make of that what you will…

Here's something I shared on Discord about a year ago: https://streamable.com/fmzobg
I also shared the raw video file here: https://app.box.com/s/l8rwlt0uhobxn7egb38qud6pqo4quku3

This is one of the two videos of "Rayman Origins 2" that leaked through a market survey in April 2012. It showed what the challenges looked like back then.
It was actually posted a long time ago, in this thread: https://raymanpc.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 34#p672934
Ah, the good old times, when we were at 16 pages instead of 892.

Anyway, I had this saved on my PC but couldn't find it on the internet anywhere - only the other video - so I decided to post it for preservation's sake.

Some interesting takeaways from the video:
  • You could challenge your friends directly
  • The challenge itself changed very little between this early video and the final game
  • As we'd already discovered in the files, you could earn a currency called "rubis" by completing challenges, and also spend it to play & challenge others. You could also earn them during regular gameplay - this video shows you collecting rubis. It seems you earned one rubi by grabbing a full lum chain (it happens exactly like this 3x in the video). This is interesting because it explains the reasoning behind the purple color of the lum chains in the final version of the game! (Rubis were purple) :D
Finally, I quite like the hub in this version! Is it me or does the green wallpaper have a robo-pirate logo pattern?

I think I remember seeing these videos back in the day, because as a child I wanted to buy Origins XDD
Those and the famous Wii U concept trailer, I still remember well that when I was finally able to play Legends, I was quite surprised how the content that was seen exclusively in that trailer was not in the final game.

Does anyone know how to beat infiltration station fast with all 3 Teensies without dying at the last section? I'm on PS4 and I've been stuck on this painting for at least 7 months.

Oh yes I remember that level, I think it was the hardest one of the game!
Have you tried to watch a gameplay on YouTube?
So you can see how other players completed that level in less than 40 seconds and get all the Teensies :D

Oops, wrong level. I was thinking "Hell Breaks Loose" invaded.

Both levels have Dark Rayman. "Hell Breaks Loose" is about non-stop sprint-swimming while avoiding tons of obstacles. "Infiltration Station" is about figuring out the optimal order of attacking the enemies in each section, while avoiding Dark Rayman.
