Not really sure since I don't much about either sport.

Re: What sports do you like?
Gaelic Athletic Association. It covers Gaelic football, hurling and camogie
They are quite different all right, from what I've heard. I've never watched American football, but from what I've read, unlike rugby, you're allowed one forward-pass per play, which gives rise to the role of the quarterback, who throws it as far forward as possible. It creates a very different game dynamic, with much shorter plays and different player builds. There's also the fact that the posts are much higher in American football, and (ironically) a touchdown doesn't actually involve touching the ball down, whereas in rugby you need to ground the ball correctly for a valid try.DaveRattlehead wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 1:26 pm Not a big fan about American football. Is there actually any significant difference between rugby and American football?
Then there's rugby league versus rugby union, which I think are more subtle differences. I'm only really familiar with union…

Hurling sounds familiar. Isn't there something similar in Scotland?

They're basically the same thing, involving a little ball (sliotar) being pucked around with specially-shaped sticks made of ash (or bamboo now that all the ash trees are dying
I'm ashamed to say I'm not sure!DaveRattlehead wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 7:23 pm Hurling sounds familiar. Isn't there something similar in Scotland?

I only replied once here and it seemed to be during a previous record day. I like sports such as darts and pool. Even when it comes to watching a sport on TV, I would most often watch darts. I like to play games like that too because they're not chaotic and fast paced, and if anything goes wrong, you're the only one to blame (not a team mate).

That's curious. Aren't you into team sports because you get very nervous with your mates?
I wouldn't blame you about it, that often happens

I see, so I would guess they're similar to hockey then in that case, just without the ice floor?PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 9:06 pmThey're basically the same thing, involving a little ball (sliotar) being pucked around with specially-shaped sticks made of ash (or bamboo now that all the ash trees are dying). The difference is that camogie uses a smaller stick I think (a camóg rather than a camán), and is more commonly played by women. I've heard hurling is one of the fastest-moving games in the world, so they all have to wear helmets!
I've only played both of these once, and both times with friends. I wouldn't mind playing by myself though since like you stated I can take my time before making a move, unlike with other sports like tennis where I have to hit the ball right away as it comes to me. I feel like both take good precision and planning (especially when it comes to pool) to do well.Steo wrote: Wed Aug 30, 2023 4:30 pm I only replied once here and it seemed to be during a previous record day. Honestly I'm not too familiar with hockey, but I think there are similarities. Hurling is faster though I think! The Jonster wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 8:33 pm I see, so I would guess they're similar to hockey then in that case, just without the ice floor?

Track, ice hockey, Skiing, and MMA are the correct choices. Change my mind.

My favourite is horse riding, sadly I had to stop because I became too busy and I have a vein malformation in my foot that doesn't let me do certain things for too long or it'll hurt

Re: What sports do you like?
Yeah I used to for many years when I was in middle school, I do not know why it is my favourite sport.
I used to practice swimming or judo but after a while it got boring..
Maybe I loved loved horse riding because I love animals and it was nice to bond with a horse and work together to achieve goals

That’s sweet
I’m not got at many sports involving a ball so that’s why I like running, but also basketball when people actually pass to me

Re: What sports do you like?
I've never been a huge fan of those sports, especially football.
Here in Italy people are way too excited about this sport, it's basically the favourite sport of my country.
Because of my neighbour there's not even the need to watch a match to know who's winning, I just have to count how many times he yells and depending on the kind of swears I can also understand who scored..
Imagine hearing him yelling during the evening while you're trying to sleep.. I mainly hate football for this reason
I remember I used to practise some rugby at school and I was the best of my class, I loved knocking my classmates down!

Re: What sports do you like?
I mentioned in Record Day that motorsport is probably what I like the most, and I'm not kidding when I say that, if I hadn't been interested in chemistry, I would have tried my best to go into professional motorsport. I like other sports, but I think motorsport has been what I've liked since the very beginning, even more than football or other more popular sports.
That sounds very cool. It may sound a bit weird, but riding a horse is in my to-do list before dying. I'd love to do that at least once.ItzalDrake wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 5:35 pm Maybe I loved loved horse riding because I love animals and it was nice to bond with a horse and work together to achieve goals![]()
