Re: Favourite soup
That's something I'm still curious about to this day.
My ideal soup would be smooth, have chicken, potato dumplings, and maybe some spinach. Err...I guess sounds similar to the chicken and gnocchi soup at Olive Garden now.
Re: Favourite soup
Yeah I probably don't want to know what it is.The Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:32 amThat's something I'm still curious about to this day.

I think I like vegetable soup the most really, and I usually have some bread with it.

I've been known to have it with chips (or "fries" in American
)

I like pork ramen soup, very yummy. In fact, any meaty ramen soup.

Yeah, I think we only rarely adopt Americanisms. Of course there are plenty of Irishisms too, and you've probably seen me use a few of them around the place todayThe Jonster wrote: Sat Aug 26, 2023 4:41 pm Oh so you guys say it the same way Brits do then eh? That sounds good actually.

Re: Favourite soup
It just means "thing" basically. Maybe with a certain pejorative subtext…
Re: Favourite soup
Yeah we say "you know them yokes", but it's more like "them things". It's pronounced the same as yolk for an egg but it just means "thingymajig" or something more or less.

Re: Favourite soup
Well, in "correct" English, a yoke is something you join to a horse
