Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Of course, there is the traditional Irish-language designation of "duine gorm" for a black person, which technically means "blue person", but I think that's being changed too by some modern speakers…
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Yeah I think this one is a bit strange too when you consider the English translation.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
A teacher once told us that "gorm" originally meant darkly-coloured in general, and only later specialized to mean "blue"…

A word I shall now remember, since it means my favourite color.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2020 6:48 pm A teacher once told us that "gorm" originally meant darkly-coloured in general, and only later specialized to mean "blue"…
What would green be in Irish?

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Suggestion for new poll: How far have you gotten in Rayman M's "On and On" Race Mode? The potential answers would be "I haven't unlocked it", then the twelve race levels, and then one for getting past Electric Final (I'm not sure what actually happens then
).
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I haven't actually completed it myself. I was playing Arena on my molded Xbox for a couple of days at one stage, though I never did complete it, and then my dog broke that Xbox so I guess my save is gone.

You might want to include "I for the love of God can't remember" as an option.

I'm more inclined to ask what a "blue person" is.PluMGMK wrote: Sat Aug 22, 2020 5:38 pm Of course, there is the traditional Irish-language designation of "duine gorm" for a black person, which technically means "blue person", but I think that's being changed too by some modern speakers…
And yes I'm asking bc blue is my favourite color.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
I think "gorm" originally meant "coloured" in general, but at some point it specialized to mean "blue" in particular, except for this fossilized phrase for a "person of colour". But at least it's topical in light of that Rayman Redemption controversy!

Bumping for new members to see!
I haven't played this in awhile so I'm not sure either. It's a decent suggestion though, I wonder if anyone else has any ideas for a new poll. My thought for a poll is, do you prefer the Magician in Rayman 1 or Rayman Origins?PluMGMK wrote: Sat Nov 28, 2020 12:30 am Suggestion for new poll: How far have you gotten in Rayman M's "On and On" Race Mode? Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
How about this? "Do you find the Clearleaf Forest or the Bog of Murk more pleasant?"
I find it interesting, because the official description in the Rayman 3 strategic guide suggest that the Clearleaf Forest is supposed to be more pleasant, but I think a lot of us prefer the Moonlit Swamps, despite the psychotic residents…

Oh so there's more people who like that calm tune besides us? I like that!PluMGMK wrote: Thu Aug 31, 2023 7:31 pm How about this? "Do you find the Clearleaf Forest or the Bog of Murk more pleasant?"

Interestingly, these 2 are my current favorite areas to look around in R3.

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Since this was talked about in October, I wonder if we should have polls about Laserhawk and the DLC?

Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
Yeah sure, we can make a poll including both projects (for example: Did you like the new Rayman content in 2023?) or different polls for each one of them. I like both ideas tbh
Re: The Awesome and Cool Rayman Poll Thread
We can of course revive this one. Which one do you think we should go with first? I could still take Plum's suggestion into account also. I would have also said maybe we could to something Christmas themed for this poll too, but I guess anything Christmas related in Rayman is very limited.
