I think my signature joke is relentless cynicism about anything people naïvely expect to work out, be it projects at work or the prospect of new Rayman content :oops2:

Obligatory Record Day post. Haven't played R3 in ages so my scores have not changed, but I guess that still counts as an update, kind of? :oops2:

I was half-thinking of breaking out Rayman 3 again today, but here I am at 5pm and I'm still catching up on RD posts! :fou2:

I'd probably bring out R3 on Dolphin to do some testing again with combination before I go for another scoring attempt on my PC version (I did that before I made my first one in the HOF years ago).

OK, now I can finally post here without double-posting! :fou: I did break out Rayman 3 the week after Record Day, and while I did once again break 500k points, I didn't do as well as I had done on my previous two playthroughs. A lot of silly mistakes and risk-aversion…

I suppose it might be because of the gap between the last time you played and this time? The same will probably happen to me whenever I play again.

Pretty much! It looks like I didn't play at all in 2022! :tssk:

Yeah it's definitely a bit complicated to link all the combos properly after some time without playing the game. But hey, 500k points isn't that bad. Did you finallly score more than 100k in The Land of the Livid Dead?

That's understandable. I haven't made a scoring attempt since 2018. Coincidentally, I think that's how old my laptop is now since I believe one of the first things I did when I got this laptop was play R3 on PC

Nope, still in the 90s, and lower than last time there too

I guess that would mean there's still room for improvement! Not that I would encourage you to do it right away unless you want to.....

I remember when I first played The Land of the Livid Dead as a kid, I only got in the 60Ks. And then I got better with comboing with the laser powerups and discovering the secret areas like the one in the doctor's office I didn't know about in the past. :oops2:

It's never easy to get 100k points in a level, but The Land of the Livid Dead is probably one of the easiest levels to do so as you don't need huge combos like the ones you can see in other levels. Of course, it's up to you to improve that score, but I encourage you to give it a try as it isn't a big deal like, for example, in The Bog of Murk ;)

I'd suggest looking for other easier references. They won't get you to the 122k points shown in the forum's tutorial, but hey, it's a first step. In SpeedRay 23 some of us didn't make some really hard combos. Here is Ray502's run, and here you have my run, as a couple of examples.

Also, here's another example. This person is close to 100k points, you would just have to improve 2/3 combos and you'd get there.

Of course, these aren't the best tutorials if you want to get to the top positions, but at least it's a nice way to start reaching the 100k points :P

I'd suggest to start small and go with levels where you're certain you can improve on. :)
For my score, I think I could improve on Clearleaf Forest and Summit Beyond the Clouds (if I could get all the gems in 1-2 rounds on the slopes heh)

Afaik the Land of the Livid Dead is the easiest level to get 100K points. I know it's also possible to do so in Clearleaf Forest, Desert of the Knaaren, and Hoodlum Headquarters. Can't remember if it was possible in The Tower of the Leptys though.....

If I can score over 500K I'll be satisfied. I think for me, TSBTC is the best chance for improvement, giving my so-so play style.
However, there are so many games I want to play before I'll dive into that again. :oops2:

I'm pretty sure I can do it, I just don't have the willpower to follow through all the nail-biting combos, or to restart when I make silly mistakes (like this one: viewtopic.php?p=1463166#p1463166)

Heh, if only there were more than 365 days in a year and more than 24 hours in a day!

I really want to try and reach 800K personally. I think then I'll feel I did the best I could, though it's going to be much more of an uphill battle from where I'm standing right now. Not to mention, I probably need a new keyboard since the way things are I can't use the standard controls. :oops2:

All in good time though, I have a bunch of other games I need to finish up anyhow.

No way I'm going for 800k! If I started playing more often maybe I'd eventually scrape 600k, but I'll be happy to stay in the 500ks really…

Hello all! I got Rayman 3 today and currently have beaten the fairy council with around 5000 score. How would I upload it to the Hall Of Fame?

I know I’ll only get 50 tings

Why don't you wait until you beat the game and then upload it to get a good number of tings?
